@allworkandlowpay: Hi, I understand that some may feel resentment or even great anger that social norms are changing against their wishes/beliefs. Everybody have different moral compasses but for us to survive we need to find ceilings and floors for what is acceptable and what isn't. As a species we learnt that working together gives greater chance of survival and from there flourished. If we had said "I don't like the color of your rock, so you deserve to die" we never would have made out of the caves.Surely if we all took a step back we would see the ridiculousness of all of this. "I'll rape/murder/bomb you because you're being loud with views which I don't subscribe to". On top of all that this entire culture war is over a form of pastime/virtual reality. Don't get me wrong - I understand how important video games can be for some. It may be an escape it may be all they have but for those, I would imagine it's just a matter of changing the station to different venues that share your views. I wouldn't go to hate group websites expecting to agree with them or calm myself down.

Bottom line is that I don't think there's much that can be done. It's just very very sad.

Is it really that threatening that there's diversity in games? There's still Halo's and CoD's and AC's, etc. I don't see anybody's sense of identity being diminished.

No matter where you are on this issue can we all agree that harassment is bad? No? Not even that? Seems like the internet provides a haven for so much vitriol and hate. As soon as somebody's opinions do not 100% match with your own they deserve the most extreme forms of punishment imaginable. Pretty sure this is how humans devolve when we can't even agree on how to be civil.

Now if we want to talk about ethics then that's another topic and maybe those who want to talk about that should distance themselves from this hashtag, seems like they're latching onto symbols more than the issues themselves.
