I was really unimpressed. First, the industrial design is a backward step at a time when aesthetics really matter in electronics. This looks like it's trying to replace the DVR, not just in terms of features but also appearance. It's also trying to be everything to everyone and totally losing focus in the process. The first 25 minutes were all about the TV functionality, most of which won't be relevant to the majority of Xbox owners who don't live in the US. Of those that do, I think the majority would consider the games the priority which speaks volumes about how MS is not in touch with its user base. Games come first with apps and other functionality an added benefit (depending on your point of view). Then, when they finally spoke about the games, there's the multitude of issues that they didn't address properly - the backwards compatibility, the rumours about second-hand games, etc. I've had an Xbox 360 since day one and I don't want to know that my massive library of games will be totally worthless to me once my fifth console goes the same way that the previous four did. Upgrading shouldn't mean starting from scratch and rendering worthless thousands of bucks worth of stuff.
I could go on forever, but I'm in line with many of the views expressed around the web today which is that I'm underwhelmed.
Because of an active lawsuit between CBS and Dish Network, CBS got pissy with CNET, who they own, for nominating a Dish product with one of its CES awards.
Dish CEO Joe Clayton accused CBS of censorship and "heavy-handed tactics" in a press statement, writing that the company was "saddened by CNET's staff being denied its editorial independence.
Not the first time CBS have pulled a stunt like this, eh?
I bookmarked two films and in my recent games list they both have the bookmark star next to them. However, in my bookmarks list there's only one there. Anyone know if this is a bug?
When I check my messages and go through the Rival Recommendations, the option to press A (Xbox 360) and set a waypoint is presented at the bottom. However, it doesn't set any waypoint that I can see. Is this a known bug or am I missing something?
I agree with @plaintomato, Horizon is disappointing. I was expecting to see other real-world racers actually driving around but they're not and the claim of open world is phoney at best, if not an outright lie.
I used to enjoy the quests. It was a neat, interactive way of engaging visitors like myself that no other videogame site has ever done (that I've seen).
