I finally decided to take the plunge and start watching Jojo's (entirely on the basis of watching that dance scene from the latest series, and then going down a soundtrack hole) the first saga or whatever is generally seen as the 'worst', right? I found the first three episodes pretty okay, but flawed

Bloom Into You is going to kill me. I can't believe such a great manga is being adapted so expertly. The shot direction is sheer beauty, and the dialogue is all correct, and I can't. If this doesn't get a second season I will cry

@arbitrarywater: I mean, shit, that's a good superpower.

and I absolutely loved ZTD which is full of the dumbest twists imaginable so that sounds great

I watched the Girl in Twilight because Kotaro Uchikoshi was involved in it in some way, and it's... cool? Idk. I like the general vibe and aesthetic, even the CGI stuff, but I dislike how slowly it moves; there were two part episodes that could've been done in one, I think. I guess I don't know where it's gonna go from here, and the last episode had a more interesting premise (some black mirror shit) than the others.

Plus there are doubles of characters and one of the doubles is of the proper, studious character but instead she hella gay. That's great.

Speaking of Uchikoshi, is Punch Line any good?

Someone already mentioned Nier and Nier: Automata, which are... probably my favorites? I dunno, it's been a long time since I've played them. Just listing off some other ones though:

Persona 2 is really, really good; easily the best story that's ever been in an Atlus game. The way they use both games to tell a complete, engaging story while also being stand alone is really impressive.

Undertale does such an excellent job with gameplay/story integration, as well as it's ability to flesh out the characters within a pretty short play time puts it up there.

999 is probably the most complete and well told of the three Zero Escape games, but Virtue's Last Reward is my favorite by far. The places that story goes, the way they tie things together, is insane. UGH. That game is so good. It's so dumb, but it's SO GOOD.

Boy the last couple of Flip Flappers episodes really soured me on the whole thing. Halfway through I was trying to figure out if I wanted them to explain everything or explain nothing at all, and I'm going to go out on a limb and say not. Well, at least that's what I felt about it. Well, I still say the first half of the series is really, really good, and even the back half has great parts. But yeahhhhh.

I haven't popped in here in forever, mostly because I haven't actually watched any anime in forever, but since getting back on for Yagakimi (the best yuri manga out there besides maybe Octave or Sasameki Koto) I've been redelving.

(also the Yagakimi adaptation seems really really good, and it's going to end at a horrible spot and not get a second season)

Purely on a whim, I checked out Shoujo Kageki Revue Starlight and I pretty much binged the entire series in a day. It was incredible! All the characters were great (except for Kaoruko but I'm pretty sure that was the point), the art of the Revues was outstanding and the sheer creativity of some of the set pieces, mmmm. Also I'm frantically waiting for the second half of the insert songs to be released, because they are all hot bangers. Some of the allegory I didn't get, but that was alright because it's just a fantastic show anyway. It also reminded me that I should finally finish watching Utena

as far as recs go, does anyone have good recs for complete, one season shows? Say, in the past 3-4 years? I only picked up Revue because it was one season and unless a show is real hype my attention goes to shit and I forget about it.

I don't know if this is the best meme, but it's certainly my favorite. Every single part of it, especially the yuri
