Absolutely, but they were still fun to play with. Rock and Mina were kind of clunky, unless you got really good at Rock's command throws and then you could mess people up with him.

@aphal: Weren't both Talim, Maxi, and Yun-Seong considered low-tier and Mi-na and Rock bottom-tier in SCIV (Yoda being bottom of the barrel-tier if counting guest characters)? =/

Lower tier characters can be really fun to play too. I loved Talim and Yun-seong's move sets in SC4 and they were both pretty low on the totem pole.

Dan is usually never right, so you can rest safely there. Off the top of my head I knew that neither of them were bad characters, and I recalled certain ones like Seung Mina and Rock are pretty low-tier (bad). So I checked Google and the shoryuken wiki has a basic tier list on it that jives with my experience: http://wiki.shoryuken.com/SoulCalibur_I

It's worth mentioning that Dan and Vinny are nowhere near the type of player that would even care about this type of list. It's based on a level of competitive play and meta-gaming.

Cayde's the key to all this, if we get Cayde working. 'Cause he's a funnier character than we've ever had in the games.

Haha. This is very apt.

@aphal: But what other response could you really want? He wasn't even hostile to the guy he just pointed out that this was not the place to be looking for a solution.

His first sentence was dismissive and unnecessary, his second sentence is a perfect response by itself. The two combined feel like a bad message. That's all. This really isn't a big deal. I like Jeff. You don't need to protect him from me.

Yes, totally understand context over here. The response still makes it sound like Jeff does not care that people are having video issues. These issues have been happening and reported since the player went up 2 months ago. So when posting in the Bug Reporting forum doesn't help fix the issue, what are people supposed to do next?

I'd already been waiting for a solution to appear, and the very first time I saw anyone on staff besides wcarle and Rorie respond or mention the issue it was Jeff telling someone it's not his problem.

Using Opera here. No matter what video settings I use between HTML5, Progressive Low, High, HD, I get stuttering and giant spinning circle if the browser is not the currently active window. I have multiple monitors and watch most of my GB content while doing other things on the second monitor.

On Chrome I get stuttering regardless of which window is active. I'm on Windows 10.

Jeff recently responded to someone reporting the issue on his tumblr and was very dismissive. http://jeff.zone/post/156672936236/when-im-relying-on-youtube-uploads-because-your

It feels really shitty to be blamed for this buggy video player. I posted in the "New Video Player Released" thread with my issues almost two months ago and they are still occurring. I never asked for a new video player. I was happy with the old video player. I subscribed to Premium because I like the Premium content and the old video player was good, honestly. I never complained about it.

Now it's been replaced with a bad video player that stutters constantly, and so now I cannot watch premium content without downloading it because I can't fall back to the youtube player like I can with non-premium content.

I could almost understand Jeff's dismissiveness about the "majority of users" being OK with the new player if not for the fact that I'm paying for this content. I want to support the site, and this is bad customer service. I'm on a gaming PC with a web browser. I'm not running browser extensions. I'm not torrenting 50 gigs of anime. Youtube doesn't stutter.

it sets giant bomb apart for me. don't see those youtube whippersnappers touching old games with a ten foot pole!

Mega Man Let's Play and Contra Let's Play both return 11,000,000+ (yes, million) results on YouTube.

It's been really bumming me out. I don't find watching someone play Megaman interesting at all. When Jeff digs into Atari or C64 games I stop watching, simply because the SFX in those games are unbearable in headphones.

If there was something transformative about the content, like "let's go over the history of this game or developer" and dig into how it works or why, maybe with an interview or the developer on the couch I would be super in to it. But the content right now has been extremely low-effort "I'm going to sit down and play a NES game!" That format really works with Demo Derby and Game Tapes because those are amazing time capsules and the pace is determined by the tape or disc.

Edit: This post is intended to be constructive feedback. I don't care whether the games are old or new, just that the videos are interesting.
