Waluigi is the Mario character I like at this point.

@humanity: ah that is very interesting to me. I do appreciate the idea in theory but I don't like mechanics intersecting in that way when the genre is so much about freedom. Not much should be limited in my opinion (much more than say non-lethal and lethal in Deus Ex) and the story choices should be separate.

I like how that sounds a lot. If this turns out to be real good I might just jump into this one.

it would have been better if they story was more flushed out.

got that right lol

Seriously though, I hope the story and writing is a lot better then the first game. The art sure is.

@evilcalvin: yeah, card hunter and knights of pen and paper are kind of the two games I can really think of that actually lean into the pen and paper thing hard.

I'm sure there will be a console version of D:OS II at some point.

I do think there's plenty of room for what you're saying. There are some bits of that kind of thing happening but it'll only continue to grow I think. There's certainly creative aspects missing from RPGs that would benefit from finding a way to bring in the pen and paper magic.

@zurv: You can run a LAN game, launch the game 4 times, and make 4 characters in a co-op game then log off with players 2-4 and you have a full party you play yourself. So I'm basically just judging if the characters justify themselves story wise so I want to engage in that or not. If it's like the first game they won't, which is fine, I'm just trying to see that.

Please let me know how it's going. I may grab it today but I just want to see a bit about how the game handles party before I do, because if I dive into making a whole party how I want to (assuming the game is similar to the first one party member wise) it'll take hours just to make the characters lol.

I don't know if there is a game that really does what are you saying, showing the dice rolls. The new game Divinity OS II has a Dungeon Master mode and everything, and looks great, so you should check it out.

@lestephan:

I think the way Dishonored games basically limit your freedom of action by tying it to the story thoroughly is a really bad design decision that has hampered the series for some people all along.

I have basically tuned out CG animation for years. I don't dislike it in itself but I think most movies made with it aren't really that good. I find Pixar quite overrated.

That's not what we're talking about at all.

Is it not?

No? It's about fully animated movies.

The site is real good right now thanks to GBE. The worst time was the period after when Ryan passed. There's still a Ryan shaped hole for me, but it's always entertaining.

I have problems with the community around the site more than anything over time. I think GB used to be great in that area so it's too bad, but it has happened to every other site out there so no surprise.
