I was mesmerized by Brad playing this on UPF and I actually spent some time watching someone else play this on Twitch. I haven't touched the game itself yet. I must need counseling.

I thought I'd comment on this one since it's been while since the community has talked about it.

I've had this one for a while, but just started playing it recently and have put 40 hours into it now. I will finish it. But this is really a comment on the first 1/2 of the game. Aside from the really crappy frame rate moving through the outdoor areas in some spots, I really enjoy the game and I'm looking forward always to exploring the next thing. The fights are tense and you'll I'm an old school MM fan, and MM2 is responsible for me being a big RPG fan today. I haven't played one since MM6, but I love the way MMX brought back a lot of the things that made MM1-5 great. I hope that in the future, a bigger budget can be had for this series. In the 90's those games were fairly cutting edge with the presentation at the time, and it'd be awesome to see some realistic creepy environments done really well with today's technology.

I really enjoyed the demo on the Xbox. My favorite RPG since Dragon's Dogma. I spent about 4-5 hours on it and thought it was a good adventure that has some challenging stuff in it. Once I learned a few tricks with the combat I really started to like it. I was frustrated at first because it was different than what I'm used to, and I just got done playing through Bayonetta. It does loosely resemble Type-0 in the way it controls.

The enemies can pile up very very quickly if you're not careful in the cave or outside in the wetlands at night in some spots. The game probably isn't optimized the way the full product should be. The only really bad frame rate I saw was when I escaped the Behemoth the first time. The rest of the time the frame rate is fine and it seemed to me to be around 30 FPS. 60 would be great, but I don't expect it on the Xbox or PS4 for most games of this calibre. I don't expect a game like FF to move like Bayonetta, and I don't really want that since there is more strategy here. The game is stunning to look at from every angle, and I thought it played well once I figured out the monsters' attacks. it really is like monster hunter in those ways.

Once I got the Ramuh I almost crapped my pants when I summoned him. Holy shit.

I took on the Behemoth in the Wetlands post-game at level 30 and beat him after about 40 minutes. I purposely did not want to use the summon, and it worked out because of the Armiger ability. I'm going to use that a lot in the full game as it's a pretty cool ability.

I wish Prompto didn't get himself killed so much, and sometimes the other AI companions get in my way. Yes, I'm thinking of Ignis.

There was an option at the car for "Take the wheel." It was greyed out, but that sounds a little promising. Thought I don't expect we'll be running over Chocobos.

I guess it's not a huge surprise (due to moving completely away from the team(s) and gradually drifting away from the staple columns and videos I always liked), but I'm sad because you, Patrick, brought a lot of professionalism, sanity, passion, and great opinions to the crew, and it won't be the same without you. I feel like without your shows, my choices will be overwhelmed with wrestling commentary and very occasional Quick Looks of games I really don't care about. You brought the interesting stuff to the forefront, and it's too bad that had to stop. Let us know where you end up. Thanks for the laughs, bro!

I'm having the same issues and my internet is fine as far as I can tell. I use Comcast 60 Mb too. I have tried some other sites with HD videos and it seems like my slow download/buffering problems are isolated to giantbomb. It started when I was watching the Extra Life backlog, and now I'm also having issues with Demo Derby Dreamcast.

@ottoman673: In the case of the NES, the Retron wins, unless you have the NES2. For any given NES, you'd be lucky to read a cartridge without fiddling with it or blowing on it for 30 minutes. In my case, my NES backplane is now faulty and I don't want to spend more money on a new one that's bound to be broken as well.

So I'm using iTunes to load the premium podcasts on my ipod, and I gave itunes the following link:

http://www.giantbomb.com/podcast-xml/premium/

I have entered my user name and password several times and checked the box in iTunes "Remember Password" and it generally works ... I can usually download podcasts, but 5 minutes later it asks for my password again. This has been happening on and off for months, but magically fixes itself on occasion. Has anyone else seen this? How do I fix this on OS X.9.5?

@tobbrobb: I thought the ramp up was pretty decent. There are just enough punishing obstacles in the previous difficulty that you can master for gold medals that it makes you somewhat ready for it. By the end I was comfortable with bunny hops and the occasion flip to get past something I was having trouble with. You have to use a lot of bunny hops to "beat" the game.

My recommendation is to use the Pit Viper for everything it lets you. It has the most capability, but it's very touchy. It will make you a better rider once you get comfortable with it.

Like Shindig said, you can brute force the expert/hard levels, and at some point you kind of have to in order to see how to deal with obstacles. The Greater Crater was ... I mean, F that last part with hopping the four small circles! I think I had like 30 faults prior to it, and ended up with 300 just because of that. I won't be going back to that one to clean up the run any time soon. I might try for some golds on the others.
