I don't think they're lying per se, I think they earnestly are not creating the game with any sort of political agenda in mind.

I think the fact that they are setting the game in what is very obviously and basically to their own admission a real place, with real sociopolitical issues, and have stripped away everything political from that real place to basically make a dum-dum playground where morons like me can climb a bunch of towers and clear out camps of bad dudes with guns is, unto itself, a stupid thing to make.

There's an interview with one of the lead developers where they talk about going to Cuba and being inspired by the local "resolver" spirit, basically the general trend in Cuba of things being repaired and reused ad infinitum, because the US trade embargo put a strangehold on the influx of new goods into Cuba so they had to make what they had last as long as they could, and at the end of this story he's just like "and we were inspired by that, so we decided to make a crafting system where you can modify your guns". It's just the lamest shit. Why bother constantly putting your games in politically charged situations if clearly you don't actually want to do anything with them, because actually engaging with the setting would require you to maybe accidentally Say Something.

I know why, it's for marketing, that's why, but it still sucks

@serryl:The part of that Wonder Woman bomb scene that really bugged me on top of that was,

when she's back in the room with them, after she deflects automatic machine gun fire, she lets the guy reload again, and instead of just, like, running up to him (because she's FASTER THAN BULLETS) and apprehending him, she instead vaporizes him in front of a group of schoolchildren, obliterating a wall of the museum in the process.

I'm in agreement with the movie being trash. I keep hearing that this movie is substantially different from the Snyder/Whedon cut (calling it just the Whedon cut feels very disingenous, because...), this movie is almost the exact same movie as what came out in 2017, just tonally more consistent (not consistent, just more consistent) and twice as long. Here's what's new, not counting existing scenes which have become extended:

  • Flash gets one more scene, which is extremely creepy and would ruin his character were the Flash not already insufferable
  • Cyborg gets a full character arc. This isn't good, but it's the only character arc in the entire movie, so that's something
  • Steppenwolf is now a snivelling whiny suckup for Darkseid, which is his motivation for getting the Magic Cubes
  • There's a lot of Lois Lane scenes that are bad and take like 20 minutes to close minor plot holes from 2017
  • There's a second epilogue scene that is hot trash

Anyone who didn't like Justice League 2017 is not going to like this movie. It's fundamentally the same movie, with more slow-mo, folk chanting (did Snyder get a bulk deal or something?), and new, different creepy out-of-place jokes from Whedon's.

Bayonetta and Metroid are the two franchises of theirs that I'm itching for, but I don't think either of those are coming anytime soon.

I'm reservedly curious about Breath of the Wild 2, because I think BotW1 is a very interesting set of mechanics attached to an absolutely nothing video game, so if they take that framework and flesh out the content a bit more I'd be very interested, but if they're like "here's 300 more Shrines!" I'm absolutely out
