What are you talking about? Giant Bomb Feud was terrible. Like, putting aside the fact that the survey answers were garbage, it's an absolute mess. And not the fun kind.
Honestly a lot of the GOTY content this year has been startlingly bad. I kind of wish they would just stop since they put less and less effort into this each year, to the point now that they can't even turn the mics on.
So I'm wondering if this stuff is broken or if it's designed to look like this. Because this looks like a bunch of busted tables. The big useless scrollbar is really the main thing giving me that vibe, but the rest of the elements on the thumbnail just seem super discordant.
Also a LOT of the thumbnails on the site are so dark I'm not even sure what the point is in having them. They don't come off as readable. It's not as much a problem for something like this or GRIPS, but both benefit from taking their thumbnails from something using more vibrant colors. Stuff like Goosebumps, Quiet Man, and Tetris Effect are way too dark though.
Again, I genuinely can't tell if this is broken or by design. But either way it just looks rough.
As soon as Toby hinted there was going to be an Undertale 2 I knew the following day was going to be a dumpster fire. Undertale super fans are really just the worst.
Edit: for what it's worth I thought the first game was great, and even though I have zero interest in Deltarune, I'm sure it's fine. But people freaking out about the 24 hours rule... come on.
Problem is they're neither being informative or entertaining, because they clearly don't care enough about what they're covering to accomplish either of those things.
But yes, sure, the justification for a quick look being "uh, so people can say a thing about a game" is valid, because that's about as broad as you can get. It's also not justification for putting out bad content, and this quick look frankly stinks. GBWest can do better, which is why I'm exhausted by the way their content has been swaying lately.
@jeska: What a weird comment. The purpose of a QL is to give their impressions of games that are coming out. While they obviously can't QL everything, if they played a couple hours of a game and didn't find it very interesting, that's absolutely a legit reaction they can and should share. I think some of you have confused this site with a YouTube channel, where people only stream games they like.
Or, you know, maybe content based around something the author clearly doesn't give a shit about is boring and usually full of misinformation, and therefor not worthwhile to even create much less post publicly?
They don't have to actively like something, but they should at least have something to say.
GBWest has been developing a real problem lately of putting out videos that have nothing insightful or funny to say about what they're covering. They can't even get a good baseline on mechanics or narrative. At least the East Coast approaches everything they do (even the weird games they pick up on a whim, or games that are outright bad) with enthusiasm. They have great play off each other and are generally more knowledgeable about what they're playing. On the West, the sense that everything is being done on assignment hangs heavily. It makes it incredibly difficult to get into anything that they're doing.
I'm not expecting them to be huge fans with deep extensive knowledge of series lore, but this video comes off like Jan and Ben sat down knowing they don't give a single shit about what they're playing. I'm not sure what they thought was worthwhile about uploading a video like that. The Dark Souls Remaster video was the same way, with Brad and Ben shrugging it all off as "more Dark Souls." That's a fair assessment, but if that's all you have then why are you even doing a video?
