PS2 games I want to revisit

Since I made a list for the PS1, I thought I might as well make one for the PS2. I keep forgetting these titles!

List items

  • is it as good as i remember it?????? it has to be, right?

  • this game is nuts. BoF had a quite classic fantasy setting, and here they decide to go with a cyberpunk future setting? Also the game has a hardcore save/replay system where you have limited saves and have to sometimes restart from the very beginning? also a loose 3D turn-based strategy combat system? with non-recoverable resources for powerful moves? i remember getting to a very climactic fight scene near the end of the game and instantly killing myself with that system, and having to restart the whoooole thing over (i didn't... i just quit playing). what a cool game

  • simply a classic. this game gets quite hard as it goes!

  • i found this on my shelf. i remember playing this a lot despite not liking it that much? it's got... it's got a look to it. I stopped playing it at one point because a level throws so many enemies at you that it runs at VERY low framerates.

  • this just has to go on this list. it's so good, but i never got to play as much of it as i want!

  • speaking of matrix games tho!

  • i couldn't save ice

  • fuck yeah cy girls. this is such a dumb game but i had a lot of fun with it

  • man, this game was great. in retrospect, it's basically a sci-fi hitman game. also... a good SWERY game?!

  • i only remember how much this game sucks and how i couldn't see shit. I want to see how much of that holds up true

  • I could never get past the first big event, I really should try to get one ending at least!

  • I have never played this but I have to know.

  • I mean, yeah.

  • I played more of suikoden 1&2 but 3 made a bigger impression on me. I'm curious how it actually goes.

  • anime inception, i guess. it's got kind of a cool 3d Zelda thing in it, and i'm just a big fan of weird dream stuff.

  • never got to play this back in the days, but i guess i'll get the chance with the remake coming out soon? I suuuuuper loved Ivalice in FFTA, so I reckon I'd like this too.

  • i didn't love the first 2 games much, but i remember really liking this one. The anime western feel is strong in this one. any game that starts with a mexican standoff on a train is pretty ok in my book

  • I could never beat Maleficent back then. I want to give it another go.

  • All the talk about Ni-oh keeps reminding me about this series, with all the supernatural alternate Japanese history action going on. Onimusha 2 was the first Onimusha game I got to play, and I thought it was pretty cool! I kinda recall feeling disappointed when going back to Onimusha 1, because that was a more linear action game compared to 2.

I should also try playing 3 again. That game has Jean Reno in it!! (And the whole crazy Takeshi Kaneshiro's Hidemitsu Akechi going to modern France to kill demons on the Arc de Triomphe and shit too, of course. But Jean Reno!)

  • I remember learning a thing or two about fires from this game. Educational value! Fire bazookas! Boss fight featuring a fire whirlwind and burning flying paper! Backdrafts! What else do you want from a firefighting game.

  • a single player JRPG set in an MMORPG with procgen dungeons... this was a weird but kinda cool game. i liked the game more than the anime too

  • i put the first game on my PS1 list, i might as well put this here. I remember this being a lot more robust and a better game in general.

  • this game seems a bit unassuming and weirdly pedestrian at first, but it goes super nuts towards the end, in a way that puts the earlier parts in a new light. still not looking forward to going through all that bullshit again though... and the difficulty spike...

  • kiss kiss

  • it's always pleasant to be reminded of this game. i played this to completion, which is a rarity for me

  • i actually missed this back in the day, but i want to check it out now.

  • i must have played this at some point... but i don't remember it at all. i keep hearing about how this was one of the best PS2 RPG, so maybe i should give it a shot

  • i like arc the lad... but i don't remember this game? i must have played it at some point.

  • just remembered this game all of a sudden. cartoonish looking musou knockoff?

  • This and The Two Towers were both straightforward but quite fun. Unlocking instant kill counter skills was a pretty wild concept to me, back then.

  • On the other hand, I remember this being really annoying to play, and I couldn't even get past an early stealth section. Can I do it now? (is it worth it?)

  • In retrospect, it's really weird and brave of them to try making an FFX-like RPG with the lord of the rings. This was a real cool game.

  • On the topic of inexplicable JRPG spin-offs of established franchises, what happened here. I remember not liking this, but is it as bad as I remember it?

  • These early Harry Potter games were fun open-ish world action adventures, and IIRC this was their peak. Gosh, I just love the idea of a Harry Potter ezploratory game like this. It's a world of mystery and wonder!!

  • apparently this was a postcard franchise that yuke's made an extremely depressing dog game for. sounds cool.

  • not sure what this is but it's called robot alchemic drive (RAD)
