I happened to have Peacock, so I was able to watch this Wrestlemania after over a decade since I last saw one. And it was excellent. Cody Rhodes finishing his story was pretty obvious after The Rock and Reigns won the tag match at the end of night 1, making that predictable. But still a great main event and cool celebration at the end of night 2. Especially, if you know Cody's story as Stardust and so on.
Speaking of The Rock, for him to perform like he did at age 51 is amazing. The benefits of taking care of oneself throughout life, it pays off in the end.
I played Saints Row reboot after most of the bugs were fixed thanks to PS Plus. The best I can describe it is "Meh". It wasn't bad, but it was that good either. It was a decent sandbox game I needed, since it been years since I played one after GTA V. The gameplay is good enough to keep you distracted if you have nothing better to do. And the story got predictable real fast. The twist in the end I saw a mile away. And the lack of music overall in the radio stations left much to be desired, especially since they did a much better job in the older games.
With that said, the huge backlash was not justified, since it was mostly not even about the game and its performance, but a bunch of online racist whining about the game being too woke because of the main cast. Even though the Saints Row games always had a diverse cast, and you could play the lead character as anything you created. I went with the default design, however.
Good stuff, Abby. I also finally decided to play Disco Elysium this year after it became a PS Plus game. And I'm also discovering what a great, in-depth game it is. And how well written and serious the choice you make are.
Another well done year. Not surprised by number one. I haven't played it yet, so I'm looking forward to it sometime next year. The most disappointing choice was hilarious. And I agree, overall, it really is the best choice in terms of video games.
Like I said last year, while I miss the deep debates of the past GOTY segments, I also didn't like when they were just choosing a game that was safe and not really giving their honest opinions. The list method seems to be a nice middle ground. The list helped me choose what game I'm going to play next.
@permanentsigh: Yeah, but Jeff is known for doing that because he doesn't care about spoilers. He's done it for years on GB. I've learned to skip ahead once he starts talking about the story in a video game once the embargo ends.
