Well E3 has been over for nearly a month now and I am still trying to get my head around what happened. Lots of lovely new games have been announced or further explained, but I am simply unable to think about all that since I am still trying to grasp what E3 is all about.
As far as I've seen with Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft they didn't do press conferences and instead took part in the "Who can think of the silliest name for their product competition" for the past few years.
Nintendo took the title 5 years ago with their Wii and reigned as the champion for a fair amount of time until microsoft's motion control project was announced. Project Natal won the competition and the next year microsoft made the name even sillier by calling it the Kinect.
Sony, during these periods of time, were of course losing everytime since their corporate staff's emotions only run on money and they apparantly weren't getting enough. Instead they named the products the PS3 and the PSP 3000. Very ****ing original.
It is becaus of Sony's past that I was so surprised they came up up with a contender this year that was more than a match for the silliness of the Kinect. They called their replacement of the PSP 3000, the PS Vita. Now that is a silly name. Microsoft did very poorly this year and stuck to it's champion so much so that they talked about it for the majority of the ****ing show and they, therefore, didn't put out anything new.
I thought Sony would win hands down, I mean, the PS vita is an incredibly silly name and yet I forgot about Nintendo. The company who named the 3 year champion of the title. How could I have forgotten about them? Never mind though, they've made sure I'll never forget again with their new console; the Wii U. Nintendo's Wii U completely obliterated Sony's chance of winning this year and for good reason. It is the most ridiculous name for a product and even saying it sounds silly.
So congratulations to Nintendo, you silly mother****ers
