I'm surprised they didn't sell it as an Amazon Warehouse Deal at 10 bucks off. That's usually what they do with open box items. I mean, if you're gonna go through the trouble of resealing it and it making it look like new, at least wipe the thing first, no?

But I agree with the general sentiment here that you don't wanna keep it. I've certainly returned items in the past that I shouldn't have. For example, a PSP with the warranty sticker removed. I made sure to meticulously remove all glue residue so that no one would ever think about it. So someone out there ended up with a "new" PSP that had been in use for 2 weeks, been dropped on the ground, and had the warranty sticker removed.

Also, if you deleted the account that had downloaded games on it, all added value has already been lost. And there's no guarantee you could've kept access to them anyway. Not worth it.

@retrometal: Not really. All Sony did to make the best controller of all time was bolt two analog sticks onto their initial early '90s design.

But yeah, I wouldn't buy one of these as an alternative to the Pro. Keep your 3D and classic controllers separate, I say.

In order (I think):

  • Blue Zelda hardcase
  • Some USB C cables, though I haven't used them yet
  • Green/Pink Joy-Cons
  • Mini dock replacement shell
  • Hori Pikachu Pokken Pro Pad
  • GameCube controller to USB adapter
  • USB C OTG adapter, which again, I haven't actually used
  • 64GB Samsung EVO card

Got most of what I need right there except for:

  • A decent power bank.
  • A decent controller, as the GameCube controller is a poor replacement for a Pro Controller until Nintendo releases system-level button remaps.
  • A charge grip, or something else to charge my gray Joy-Cons without ever needing to remove my Green/Pink ones.

I've also been looking at those transparent tablet and Joy-Con shells you can import from China these days. The only reason I haven't bought a set yet is because it undermines my very expensive Green/Pink Joy-Con purchase.

Switch is killing it!

Mario Tennis Aces
I haven't played a Mario sports game since Mario Tennis/Golf on the GBA, so if this is like those games, that's a day-1 buy for me.

Hyrule Warriors Definitive
Never got around to buying the 3DS version as I heard it didn't run well on a regular 3DS, and was too busy playing other games after I got a New 3DS. Glad I held off, and this'll be a day-1 buy for me.

Dark Souls
Portable Dark Souls, 'nuff said. Day-1 buy.

The World Ends with You
I quite liked the game on DS and got through most of it, but eventually got too obsessed grinding Bravery on the boys to make them wear girls clothes, and ultimately didn't beat it. This I'll probably pick up, unless I decide to just restart the DS version.

Ys VIII
Would've been a day-1 buy had I not already beat it on PS4, and at 40+ hours, twice as long as the previously longest Ys games, it's quite the commitment. I'm glad we have some Falcom representation on the system, though. I know it's ported by NIS, but hopefully it causes Falcom to see the light and port over the Cold Steel series.

SNK Heroines: Tag Team Battle
Might be interested in this but that really depends on whether it has a decent offline story mode. So far all the talk has been about online, spectating/betting, and tons of character customization, which isn't enough for me.

Overall I was quite happy. The only thing that was missing here is Dragon Quest XI, but that'll probably be an E3 thing. I'm also waiting for the inevitable Xenoblade X announcement.

So what are the odds of this remaster letting you warp from the get-go? That's what killed the game for me compared to Demon's Souls (among other things...). It's so focused on exploration, yet it punishes you for doing so as you could get yourself stuck in an area that you don't know how to deal with. There's no real benefit to straying from the "canon" path unless you already know the game.

Of course, they've rectified this in future installments, but I'd really like to have that kind of freedom in the original Dark Souls as well.

Either way I'll definitely pick it up for Switch, which is quickly becoming my 2nd favorite console of all time.

I've been a Switch owner since day 1 and still don't own a Pro Controller. The only game I've played where I really wish I did was Doom, but if you're playing Doom with a Pro Controller, you're either in tabletop mode which I never use, don't own a PC/PS4/XB1, or are doing something, very, very wrong.

If you do decide to go the Pro Controller route, be sure to get a Xenoblade 2 edition. The d-pad has been improved on that one (you can actually see the difference when you open them up), and while I assume the regular black edition has/will be improved as well, there's no easy way to identify one.

Alternatively, the best Switch controller is the one you already own, so just get a Mayflash NS-Magic adapter for 20 bucks and wirelessly connect your DualShock 3 and 4, or whatever Xbox controller you have (wired only, I believe). They sell them on Amazon UK as well.

Well, I picked English for the original Xenoblade because British voice casts are extremely hard to come by, and basically every Japanese game has a Japanese voice track now. The novelty has simply worn off.

So rather than hearing the same old voices we've come to expect (which would've been true for an American cast as well), I was far more excited to hear this cast of British nobodies.

For those same reasons, as well as continuity's sake, I also picked English for this sequel and was very happy with the work that they did.

Nia's really the standout character for me. She reminds of Fran from FF12 in some ways. Fran also had a very "safe" Japanese voice, but then they gave her that crazy, supposedly Icelandic accent in English that made you go "Whoa, what's going on here and why is it so sexy?" It ultimately made for a much more memorable character.

@puchiko:

Nah, you can't recharge it, so generally you lay on 2 or more elemental orbs without it, and then switch over to finish your final orb.

Also, quick tip. Nia is far more valuable as a Blade than she is as a Driver. Just read ahead a bit on her Affinity Chart and you'll see how crazy good she gets.

@disco_drew22: You do know there's such a thing as an HDMI switch, right? Thing costs like 5 bucks.

Anyway, I've been trying to play the system handheld as much as possible, but the non-existent battery life really kills the experience for me. The 2 hours you get on Xenoblade won't even be enough to make it over to my girlfriend's parents for Christmas.
