@maluvin: I just want to second that seeing 2049 will be fine without the original. I watched the first the night before but found that it made 2049 a bit better (in my opinion), but without that first one under her belt I think she'll be just fine, it holds its own.

I think the sound issue may have something to do with your theater. We saw it in Imax and the Vegas scenes got pretty loud but that's about it. My husband and I loved it, but maybe watching the original the night before helped. I second @pyrodactyl's opinion on the movie being thematic and contemplative, revolving around existentialism.

I really enjoyed the pacing and the ending of the movie, particularly since it seemed K found his own purpose worth fulfilling rather than that of the precinct or the rebel-replicants. Also, loved Princess Buttercup as Badass Lieutenant, Robin Wright is great.

I am so glad you enjoyed it. I've always been "into" video games but Final Fantasy X was the game that really pulled me into the J/RPG genre. Luckily, when I first played it I was ~15 so I was able to forgive some of the poor writing and dialogue, but it's just one of those games I genuinely love.

In previous blogs, I think you hit it right on the head with Yuna's sense of duty and her, well, somber-ness. While she's often a blank page, when she's performing the sending it's graceful and manages to tug on the heart strings. The sense of despair in the world caused by Sins destruction was just so prevalent to me in the game, and gave me a sense of duty as the goofy hero, Tidus. I'm not sure why, maybe it was because it was my first final fantasy, but everything felt so much more important in X. In IX, Zidane just seemed cheerfully ambivalent in a way, and Vivi, to me, was the only character with any sort of (lasting) emotional resonance. Maybe the ass-grabbing scene just made me jaded.

Anyway, I'm really glad you enjoyed the ending. I don't know what else to say except that FFX is one of those games that really "got" to me. That being said, good luck with FFX2. I like the costume changes and all the jobs, simply because I'm a fan of variety, but mannnn, is that game something.

I know it was 2008-2009 because I had graduated and was working full time and heard about the podcast from my co-workers. I only listened to the podcast for a while and would watch videos when I'd think about it. Since I lived in Seattle, I'd also make a point to go to their Pax Panel every year. The amount of video content I watched increased as time went by.

2013 is when my income and expenses got to a point where I was like hey, I'd be more than happy to pay for a premium membership. Since then, I watch content regularly.

When I started listening they were in the basement and it was Jeff, Ryan, Brad and Vinny and sometimes Drew.

Started Titan Quest today. Perfect for my lackadaisical mood and wanting to watch gb content on the side. The anniversary edition (and maybe the original, can't remember) lets you change the game speed which is always nice. I'm always fond of hack and slash games a la diablo 2, and the whole greek mythology aspect has a nice familiarity to it.

Chon 's new album Homey is really great. It's upbeat in a way that reminds me of 16 bit era music. Math rock is not my genre, but I love Homey.

Loooove Chon. Excited to see them again this fall. They're touring with Thrice, Circa Survive, and Balance and Composure, all bands my husband and I have had playing for years.

Do you have Verizon? We've had issues with Steam downloads the last couple of days too and wasnt sure if it was part of the anti net neutrality bs Verizon has been pulling lately.

My most proud moment was beating Final Fantasy 1. At one point I got poisoned and managed to walk all the way back to a town and ended up with 1 character at 3 hp. It was brutal but I carried on and beat the whole thing. To be honest, I really enjoyed the game, it was a challenge and a grind but felt rewarding as well.

Since then, I always try and go back to 2 which is frustrating and doesn't play as well. Somehow the characters are less relatable/impressionable than the blank slate characters in 1. It also has a levelling system similar to Morrowind and Oblivion that I don't think works well in JRPG format.

Anyway, my longterm goal as of like 2011 is to beat all of the main single player rpg Final Fantasies. I have definitely beaten 6 of them (I can't remember if I finished 3 or 4). I'm playing through the 12 remaster and I think I might go for a platinum on it as well.

Anyway, congrats on your Souls and Super Meat Boy triumphs! And good luck with Max Payne if you go for it again.

I do this too - but you can "Remove Flag" from flagged posts. It's the exact same button as the "Flag" button.

I don't mind it. I also get "Miss" as well. I grew up in the south so it was a normal thing for me when relating with adults.
