When I was a kid, I wasn't allowed to watch Animaniacs. Goddamn Animaniacs. My father forbade me from listening to AC/DC because it was all screamy stuff to him. Thankfully, I didn't adopt their views and got to experience what I missed out on down the line.
Modern Warfare 2's "Infamy" trailer is pretty standard with some ominous undertones... and then they show scenes of a war-torn Washington, D.C. That made me eager to play through the campaign to see what the heck that was all about.
Okay, so West of Loathing has this visual and narrative style that is completely wacky. People are stick figures, classes include Cow Puncher and Snake Oiler, enemies you face include hellcows and shaving-cream-covered skeletons, and there's a running gag involving your character reaching into spittoons for items and the narrator becoming increasingly more disgusted every time you do it.
The music. The freaking music, though, includes pieces like the main theme and "Draw!", the battle theme. The music is something I expect to hear in an actually dramatic Western work and not a goofy game like this one. However, it is so much better for it. The contrast between this serious music and not serious game is awesome.
