"The Super Mario Bros. movie should be considered canon" definitely got my attention. This seems like it could be a fun game-essay-type show. Look forward to hearing more about Hot Takeouts :)
Another new show announced - Hot Takeouts, hosted by VoidBurger, is going to be a gaming opinion/analysis show. The tweet mentions takes like "The Super Mario Bros. movie should be considered canon" will be discussed.
In the past two days, the staff have announced three new shows.
First is Armed and Rangerous, a podcast in which Jan and voice actor Matt Shipman (who appeared on a Jan 'N' Juice video in March) re-watch the first season of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. Premieres tomorrow.
Second is the Very Online Show, in which Gamespot friends Lucy James and Tamoor Hussain educate Jeff Bakalar about some aspect of internet culture, which can include things like memes or subsets of the internet. Premieres on Thursday.
Finally, Albummer, where a group of writers from Two Minutes to Late Night, Jordan Olds, Katie Rose, Emily Panic, Jeremy Hammond and Lucie Steiner, pick a critically panned album and try to dissect it. Premieres tomorrow.
Looks like we're shifting into high gear now. Looking forward to the new faces and the new shows :)
It'll be a series in three parts. First, Danny O'Dwyer interviews another fellow about a game they want to highlight. Then he spends a month playing the game and gathering information on it. Finally, he does another interview with the person, now with a better understanding of the game.
Danny's Noclip stuff is pretty good so I'm looking forward to this first episode with Jeff G. :)
I love game music that segues between different parts depending on what's happening. Things like FTL, where the music changes from a passive tune while exploring to a more intense one while in battle, or Griftlands, where the music changes when you're close to winning or losing.
One thing I would agree with is that this really ought to get its own space on the main page. You got the Bombcast with the blurb that there's giant news on it, but a change of this magnitude should be spelled out. Heck, there's a perfectly good clip on the official Youtube channel that could be thrown on the front page!
Seems like they're doing what they've been doing, but expanding it way out. Keeping a rotating cast of people will keep fresh perspectives and ideas coming in and out. Given that they're working with Dan on a thing too, it looks like they're open to working with anyone.
I'm confident with this plan, and I look forward to seeing what Jeff, Tamoor, Lucy, and Dan have in store :)
