I had been thinking that VALVe was slipping a bit with the whole DotA 2 thing, and the delays and stuff; but they've won me back and I'm excited for the game again =) Definitely going to pick up the PS3 version now. Do you guys think it'll be possible to have the PC copy on the same Steam account and have a friend on a computer using it while I'm playing it on the PS3 at the same time (co-op)?

I had checked this out before and loved it, but refrained from commenting for whatever reason

It sounds astounding.

I'm really curious, what kind of VSTs are you using for those string/horn patches? It sounds so good and so clear.
Also, are you using an external editor for all of that or is it just track-by-track with a MIDI controller?

Astounding =D

If we're still talking about a game and comparing it to Citizen Kane, that's tough. Kane was what made the general public start to understand film as something more than just entertainment, but something which can genuinely impact you and those around you.

If we go by that definition, why not San Andreas? Sure the game is flawed, but didn't the "Hot Coffee" controversy spark tons of debate in mainstream media?

How about Heavy Rain? That was nearly entirely driven by story and (for people I know, and myself) had an emotional impact on them. (I know a lot of people here hate on Heavy Rain, but I loved it)

This list could go on for eons, but I think the point is that it's nigh impossible to point our fingers at one example and say "here's where people started taking it seriously." By this point the medium has shown it can be serious and it's shown it can be moronic - the question is kind of bunk; but an interesting one to contemplate.

I really effing loved HL2 though.

Sorry for taking so long to respond, guys! Apparently as I haven't posted much I have a cap of 5 posts per day, so I'll make these ones count from now on.

" What I listened too was full of terrific midi sounds. I love midi. "

Haha, though I love MIDI too, I'm getting tired of listening to it constantly for so long. It's nice to play back my compositions immediately, but sometimes I wish the voices sounded less like balls.

" Being a huge fan of prog metal, I think this is pretty damned awesome.   One question though - is this just a composition made in GarageBand or similar, or did you actually record yourself playing? "

Though I followed up in a PM yesterday, I'll type it up here too.

This was all written and scored out for every part with Finale, which I then brought into Guitar Pro (by hand, took forever) and converted to MIDI. I will be recording some live instruments when I get my equipment working properly (and when I have some cash to spare) <3

" Oh man right around the 1:00 mark I was reminded of Earthbound.  Sounds really good! 1:45 Final Fight?!  I will continue listening. Good luck with your musical. "

=D Glad you can hear some of my early kid-hood influences there. I wanted to go for as cheesy and throwback-y as possible for some parts =D

" @Bassman2112:   But you've spent 2 and a half years working on it. Usually, you write the story first, then place the songs in later. Are you writing this around your songs? "

I also responded to this one in a PM but wanted to do it here haha. I actually have a large portion of the story in a storyboard with placeholder names and settings for now. I did write a lot of music at the same time as I was writing the situations, but some of it was just music writing, some of it was just story writing. It's definitely not done yet, but it's pretty damn close.

I really appreciate all the interest and feedback you guys have shown, yet another affirmation of how much I love this community <3

I thought about getting one as my portable do-random-crap computer, but I'm still using my 6-year-old Dell XPS M1210 until it dies. Once it dies, perhaps I'll get one - hopefully they'll have better CPUs by then.

I got it back in 2009 but definitely am still susceptible to ailment - I have a thick cough as I'm typing this, haha

So you're making Too Human: The Musical? Too Human wasn't that good to begin with, so you've already screwed yourself over :P. "
Haha, to be honest I hadn't even thought about Too Human. The story is still in the works (a bunch of placeholder names for characters, no specific situations set up yet, etc) so it may end up changing =P I'll be sure to keep it as far away from that as possible =P

To sum up the story in one sentence: Imagine Norse mythology in modern times

Hey guys,

I apologize if this isn't the place for these kinds of posts or if self-promotion generally isn't acceptable, but I'd really love for some people to check this out and give me some feedback =)

I've been in the process of writing a musical for the past 2.5 years and have thrown together a medley (overture) of some of the 15-20 musical pieces I've written. Unfortunately, for now, it is all MIDI as I am having trouble getting my DAW to properly work with my VSTs and USB interface, but MIDI will do the job for this rough draft haha.

I'd really love any kind of feedback you guys can offer. What you like, what you hate, where it flows, where it feels awkward - anything =) I'm open to criticism and I'm definitely not posting this with the intention of changing everyone's life, simply a humble piece of work that I'd love to have adjudicated =)

 Here is the link

Thanks a ton for checking this out =) Love the community here, glad I stopped lurking for the past few years and finally made an account!

<3

Edit: Oh yes, if you want to know what styles this has, it goes through some pop, some funk, a lot of metal, some laid back atmospheric bits,  symphonic stuff... A ton, really =)

Edit 2: Sorry about not being able to post anymore! As I don't have enough overall posts, it will not let me post any new posts!

Been in a great relationship for the past few years =)

Edit: To the fellow above me, sorry to hear that </3 Previous to this one, I had been in that particular relationship for about 3 years and got cheated on - can definitely feel the pain </3

Best of luck, if you need a random chat feel free to pm or anything.
