@shagge: I'm pretty bad at it too. I've played all the other games without too much trouble, but I don't think I've quite found this game's sweet spot between stealth and going loud.

I would say that the game is significantly easier than previous games because the alert phase is far less punishing (you can run away and hide really easily unless you are in the middle of a ton of guys) and it is much easier to save stealth in reflexes mode.

If you are having trouble, I would recommend climbing the watchtower in the warehouse and picking up the sniper rifle. Also, I found out today that it is entirely possible to kill every enemy in the entire base.

You already have other platforms to play MGSV on (including a nice PC which should be a better version anyway) so the question is: What Sony exclusives are you buying a PS4 for? Bloodborne? Persona 5?

I played the original DOTA on Warcraft III. Spent money on WC3 but not on DOTA. Haven't played a MOBA since.

But then again, I do see some value in Konami (Kojima's?) earlier defense that microtransactions are there for people who have less time on their hands. Especially when considering that the structure of Metal Gear games up till now has been very linear and short. I can just see some fair-weather Metal Gear fan coming to this game and thinking that its scale is way too big for a standard Metal Gear game. But then again, implementing microtransactions is not necesarily the best way to tackle that problem.

We used to have these things called cheat codes.

Now the cheat code is your credit card number.

Or you could just download mods.

I think that this entire thread just about sums up why looking back at the list of historical "10s" drafted by a large variable stable of reviewers is a pretty meaningless exercise. The reality is that even if every gamespot review was drafted by the exact same person, this list of supposed would not be a list of the best games of all time because the scores are assigned at release, right after the reviewer marathoned through the game (a poor way to experience most games), before the reviewer has had a time to digest the game, before any post release support, and before any online community exists. It's a shitty system that exists because people can't just live with what substantively amounts to a 4 point scale:

  • 1: Awful: Holy shit it's on fire
  • 2: Mediocre: Eh. If you're bored, I guess it's not the worst use of your time...
  • 3. Solid. You'll like it if you like the genre
  • 4. Great: Everyone should at least give this a try because it's great

Also MGS: 1 > 3 > 4 > PW > ..........2

Also, they're not all great. Only MGS1 and 3 are great. MGS4 is pretty good, PW is okay and MGS2 sucks

EDIT: Actually, nevermind. I forgot about the Tanker. The Tanker should be ranked separately from the Big Shell.

1 > 3 > Tanker > 4 > PW > Big Shell

I'm playing GZ again right now and was wondering: Does anyone have any details on (a) what will transfer to TPP from my GZ save and (b) what I need to do in GZ (if anything) in order to unlock whatever will transfer?

If you want there to be consequences for knocking out enemies, then don't use item that eliminates the consequences.

This sounds easy to me. Why would you pay twice as much money to play it on inferior hardware? And this is coming from someone who owns and plays most things on a PS4.

People keep talking about the lack of story, but seems that it's all just in the tapes. I don't mind listening to the tapes. I did it for Peace Walker and Peace Walker was fucking rad.

Who didn't see this coming? GOTY is going to be really hard between this and The Witcher 3.

What an excellent year for gaming.

Yep! And it aint over yet. We still got Fallout 4 and Just Cause 3 to look forward to.

Also Persona 5, but unfortunately, I think it might release too late for any GB staff to put sufficient time into it for their own GotY discussions.

Yeah, I liked the tapes in Ground Zeroes and PW.

And the sequel to the 2012 GOTY (XCOM)
