@slag: There's no GameSpot-esque spreadsheet or whatever; just a bunch of personal reflection of my time with the game (and how I feel about it in comparison to the games above and below it). Specifically with SOMA, in the three years since that game was released, I've thought about it a lot - particularly its ending. It's become something I've grown to appreciate more and more.

Other games have been affected by spending more time with them (including watching playthroughs) and then reevaluating how I feel. For example, THPS 2 took a dive, in large part because of the Giant Bomb playthrough.

One day I might add commentary to the games on the list (but I probably actually won't...)

@fisk0: In an early draft of this list, I had Borderlands 1 placed above TPS, but it became increasingly hard to justify, given how much I played TPS. I put in 400+ hours into TPS, I played through the game four times, did most of the challenges, and got all but one of the achievements.

I still love the first Borderlands a lot, but I really got into TPS. I will say though that at least some of my enjoyment was the Australian-ness of it all.

X-Com 1 is fine, if not a little plain. But TFTD is really special to me. It has such a great, unsettling atmosphere to it all.

Also, yeah, I didn't really want to just edit my old list. I think it's cool to have the original as a sort of time-capsule.

@sp: Hey, a lotta hard decisions had to be made. I will say that a lot of things boiled down to personal proclivities. I'd definitely be interested in seeing other people's versions of this list though.

For the record: Rez definitely is pretty styyyyyyylish though.

Yeah, seriously, this game is really...something...

It's a particular shame, given that the first two were so good (particularly the second) - the first was a little rough around the edges, but the second felt like they made good the original's ideas.

I had heard some bad things about this Malcolm's Revenge, but since I liked the first two, I thought 'how bad could it really be!?' Surely the disdain towards the game is mostly just about the ugly graphics. Nope, the game is actively garbage. A lot of the time it really seemed like they went out of their way to make things aggravating. That prison stuff at the start definitely is straight-up tedious, and there's no way they didn't realise that...

Also, did you see this infamous scene towards the end of the game?
