I also feel like Bladestorm is broken. A melee slash has a hit chance of 99%, while I've had 8/10 blade-storm triggers miss. I swear that the on screen percentages mean jack shit, and that there's an internal layer of logic making all the real decisions. Hmm player is doing well, make his next 3 melee swings miss regardless of percentage to hit. It's like there's a vindictive DM in the background changing the rule's at his whim.
So I've kinda lost motivation to quickly finish the game. I'm steam rolling everything, and making stupid mistakes cause its gotten so mindless. My newest tactic is to say fuck walls and just blow giant holes in buildings and obliterate anything that dare's poke its head out. I pushed back my avatar counter to 4-5 pips with no skull-jacking, and officers die so quickly even with extra armor it's hard to get close.
It feels like they learned nothing from EU in a way. I keep letting units get extra armor and reinforcements. Still steam roll like they're nothing. At one point there apparently was new robot unit, but it died so quick I didn't notice till the corpse list.
I think hacking is 99% of the time useless, unless there's an immune bonus.
Action Point Bug. I tab away from a unit, come back and he no longer has an initial action. His entire movement map turns yellow and I can't attack with him.
Event popups are just crazy. When I try to ignore one, the game makes its super clear that that isn't an option, and you should be ashamed for trying.
With no explanation all of a sudden Untis have the ability to actively dodge,
Roof destruction/cave-in's seem extremely random,
AoE markings are 100% broken. They also drastically change depending when you simply rotate the camera view.
Acid grenade is random and completely freaks out if there's any obstacles in the way.
Units shooting through walls and then ceilings is constantly recurring ( If you give them a chance to shoot, : D).
I'm already starting to feel that snowball from EU. Running dual exo suit grenadiers with gaus mg's and full grenade focus, just obliterates everything.
I though Faceless were going to be a big "F U", turns out they're 100% useless. Ignore civilians and just kill all pods first, then sweep the Faceless.
Even the extra Muton from the DLC/Mod is trivial.
The only time I feel threatened, is by a Muton with an itchy grenade on his belt.
[Insert another 10 issues here.]
Even though the release of this game was pushed back, this game is not finished. But the bigger issue is that instead of refining their base gameplay it seems they chose to pile on more icing onto a janky base. Don't get me wrong I really like this game, and if this was the first reboot then it would be a 9/10. But as a sequel to EU, it's probably a 7/10. I'll finish it with a smile. I won't be doing a Commander/Impossible/Ironman run any time soon, at least before patches get rolling.
At least Jeff will be happy. Games are still shipping broken!
I want to re-spec one of my mains but every dam 1/2 day there's events popping off, I can't even scan anything without my notifications exploding. It's getting kind of grating. Literally fly to get supplies, nope interrupt, fly to Intel nope interrupt, fly back to supplies, nope interrupt. They pop-off like 2 seconds after I hit scan, it's getting ridiculous. Firaxis has A.D.D or something.
@stanleynipple: Turtle and bait was the main strategy in EU, and made the game way to easy. The timer forces you to be more flexible. I've already had blacksite missions with no turn timers and the turtle and bait strat makes them a joke.
