EVE Online (You did ask for something difficult. :D).

The learning curve's bloody steep, yeah, but the game has tutorials now, and there's a lot of great folks in both the giantbombing channel and Kite Co that'll answer any questions you'll have.

The only real microtransaction is paying for Pilot Time EXtensions (PLEX) which you can buy for a bit more then a straight of subscription costs and sell on the market for people who don't want to pay for a subscription but have enough in-game money to buy them. Good if you want to make a lot of ISK without spending much time and/or effort doing it.

It's also more social then any other MMO I've played (Which is admittedly pretty few, but still.), teamwork and a community is really required to have a good time, even if you're off doing things on your own you want folks to ask for advice and joke around with.

^Yeah, was going to say that the people switching to tablets instead of PCs are unlikely to get big into PC gaming, so using this as a "PC gaming is dying da duh" (Aren't we over that by now anyay.) thing is a bit dumb.

I'm to going nth the people who've said "Dota is actually free" or something to that affect (effect? Whatever.). I got into a League some a while and the grind was what eventually turned me off it, the out of match progression system added nothing to the experience besides some extra fiddle work to annoy people like me who didn't plan on dropping hundreds of dollars on the damn thing.

Mad Ani isn't in GoonSwarm or TEST, actually. He's just in a cloaked ship far enough away from the battle itself that nobody can decloak and blow him up. 'cuz if there's one thing Eve player like more then blowing people up, it's blowing famous people up. :P
