I received a Bulbasaur and a Squirtle, which were nice surprises. I put them back into wonder trade for someone else, though. My best trade was a Vivillon for a Gengar. I have yet to get some crazy level 50 pokemon.

Once I have a good variety of strong pokemon, I want to put them in and see what I get. Hopefully kids will get over flooding it with Bunnelby.

And simisage, god damn the simisages

During the first 5 minutes of a match, you can place a bet using your imaginary saltygold using the betting buttons under the stream at Saltydota.com. It starts at 200 and slowly replenishes.

You slowly level and can put points into four skills to increase your minimum gold, allow you to cancel a bet, reward big bets more, or spam a giant trash talking message across the actual stream.

You’re betting to get more saltygold to bet more to get more saltygold for more bets. It’s just for fun.

Also, side bets (who gets first blood, who dies next, who gets rosh, etc) and a “store” you can use saltygold for extra swag while betting are in the works, but they’re not implemented yet. Matches are from the first page of the “watch” tab, but saltybot plans on mixing in some low-level matchmaking games too.

User ilovesharkpeople on twitch just posted that summary in the chat, looks interesting, has a lot of goofy sound board stuff as well.

I've added everyone up to this point on the page, It's also come to my attention that the amount of friends you have affects a certain area in the game related to catching pokemon (more is better) so anyone who posted before this post if you add me you'll automagically be friends!

thanks for doing this as well OP.

Not that I'm necessarily going to know much of what I'm talking about here since I've never played Pokemon to a hardcore degree, but I imagine that this probably has stat consequences in terms of EV and IV growth for the Pokemon that don't actively fight, no? I can appreciate the existence of this item as a consolation for those mostly interested purely in catching and raising as many Pokemon as possible, but from a competitive perspective, I can't help but wonder if there are consequences for utilizing it. The fact that you can apparently turn the item off seems to indicate as much, but again, I'm not super knowledgeable about that scene, so I'm mostly asking out of curiosity.

there are minigames with the touchscreen specifically for increasing EVs and IVs and the stat gains happen retroactively as if you had them all along.

Seems I'm the only one who feels that this is a bad thing. It's making it too easy. Taking away the management aspect entirely and automating the entire process. Isn't that super boring? They may as well just have some conceit that bakes that system into the narrative better rather than cheaply just throwing out that it happens because you find this item. I don't know, man.

This seriously feels like a Real Money Auction House moment of "Oh, that's so smart!" just to later turn to "Well, that ruined the whole thing..." Maybe not on the same scale, but you know what I'm getting at.

Disable it from your bag if it bothers you that much.

It's fantastic, you can now train up multiple teams of pokemon and everyone else in the party gets 50% of the xp EACH meaning if a pokemon you defeat gives your pokemon 400xp, every unused pokemon in your party gets 200xp each for nothing.

What's more, you get xp for catching pokemon and then this xp is shared among your party too, you just level everyone soooooo fucking fast and it gives you that much more freedom to catch and train as many pokemon as you want instead of focusing on 6-8 for the entire game.

I'm loving the hell out of this game, who knew game freak had it in them to be so forward thinking finally?

@alistercat: Things that are blowing my god damn mind so far:

Wonder trade: I just traded a pidgey for a dunsparce named mr glopo from a guy in the netherlands, this system will just have me catching all kinds of random pokemon and trading them through the wonder trade.

Passer by / connectivity stuff: Having random people challenge you to battles based on where you are in the world is also pretty crazy, its so easy to get into a battle with another player over the net now.

Scale in battles: So before it was hard to tell the scale difference between sprites, now with 3D models the size difference between pokemon is immediately apparent, pidgey is dwarfed by dunsparce for example, really weird to see! Can't wait to catch or see an onyx!

@spiritgod: They haven't revealed much but from what I gather it's a Borderlands / Guild Wars 1 / Halo type game, with less of the World of Warcraft MMO aspect to it. There will be hubs where you group up with others to go on missions and such.
