BertieWooster: Best of 2009

List items

  • An amazing adventure from start to finish, with a rich multiplayer experience that truly gives some of the best value in a game I've ever seen.

  • Outstrips the original in every way, and that comes from a pretty big fan of the original.

  • Possibly some of the most satisfying and nostalgic gameplay I've had in years. Plus another shining Nolan North performance.

  • Absolutely ridiculously thin and unsatisfying ending aside, I STILL felt the urge to immediately start a second playthrough, despite fully completing all quest lines already. Also featured one of the finest split-screen co-op experiences I (and the wife) have ever had.

  • A delight. The Ratchet experience, finely honed to give the best experience yet.

  • Oh man. I want to break this game in half sometimes, and the co-op experience at times adds far more frustration than fun, but this is easily the most fun-to-play-while-drinking-with-good-friends game of 2009.

  • Probably the best Batman game ever. One of the best uses of a license I've ever seen as well.

  • So much blood. So much cake.

  • This was originally Killzone, until I played a bit more MW2. It did everything I said about Killzone (frustrating but fair, damn fine multiplayer), but with a better single-player experience (short though it was) and more winks to the audience (50 Cent, Keith David) as well as the always excellent Kevin McKidd.

  • Yes, it's a remake of what is a pretty dated adventure game at this point, but said dated adventure game is one of my favourite of all time, and this version gets mention for acting as the herald of hopefully a wave of new adventure remakes and reboots. Plus the artstyle and voicework was absolutely top notch.
