One of the best GBA games, period. 0

Alright, alright, I haven't played Symphony of the Night. I know it's one of the best games of all time and helped pioneer a genre, but I just never got around to it. That said, does it really matter, considering Aria of Sorrow just rips it off? If I miss the chance to date a beautiful blonde supermodel, but instead get to date her best friend who's also a model, but just has brunette hair and a slightly smaller chest, is that a reason to complain? Of course not! And hell, for all I know, maybe ...

A competently made Metroidvania with not a whole lot else going for it. 0

I got Strider as part of the Humble Capcom bundle earlier this year. After being disappointed with Resident Evil 0 and the Devil May Cry collection (apparently those games didn't age as well as I'd hoped), I booted up Strider just out of curiosity. To my surprise, I've put more time into it than any other game in the bundle, but that still doesn't mean I'd recommend it.To the game's credit, it doesn't waste any time getting going. Strider shows up at the base of his target, and... that's it. Go...

One of the weaker Ace Attorney entries, but entertaining nonetheless. 0

I've been a fan of the Ace Attorney series ever since the first one was released on the DS way back in 2005. The games in the series have been consistently funny and interesting (although Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney was, in my opinion, the low point of the series), and I've always looked forward to each new game in the series. Having said that, while Spirit of Justice was fun, and I'd recommend it to hardcore fans, it seems almost paint-by-numbers, despite some alterations to the formula. If yo...

One of my favorite games of all time. 0

Resident Evil 4 is one of the few games I've played that actually lived up to the hype. Strangely, I hadn't actually played any Resident Evil game before that (mostly because my parents were opposed to me playing M-rated games, and RE4 came out shortly before my 17th birthday). The graphics looked amazing, I loved the art style, the enemy and boss designs, and the Gamecube was sorely lacking in shooters (Timesplitters 2 is the only one I can remember off the top of my head that was any good). A...

A great game that trims the fat off of your typical JRPG. 0

I didn't own an SNES when I was a kid, so when I saw screenshots of Paper Mario in Nintendo Power, I thought it looked like garbage. I had played games like Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, and Goldeneye, so when I saw these 2D character models in a 3D world I thought the game would be awful. However, the only RPG I had played at the time was Pokemon, so I didn't realize the main appeal of this type of game was the story and character development. Nonetheless, I played the game anyway and instantly fe...

This is the game first-person shooters should be. 0

A couple of things to know about me up front: 1) I've never played a Doom game before, and 2) I'm not a fan of shooters. The only Call of Duty I've played is the first Modern Warfare, and I only found it decent. I tried Wolfenstein: The New Order a few years ago and couldn't get into it. I like the Bioshock games, but more for their environment and stories than their gameplay. I don't inherently dislike shooters, but other than Metroid Prime and Resident Evil 4, I wouldn't consider any of them ...

An interesting game in concept, but the awful characters and dialogue ruin any tension it might have had. 0

I'll say straight-up that I've never seen any of the Nightmare on Elm Street/Friday the 13th/Halloween movies that this game is based on. I love horror, but I've always been more of a fan of the creeping psychological horror than the gorefests. That existential dread of being faced with something beyond your comprehension. While gore and jump scares have their place in horror, Until Dawn relies on them far too heavily for them to be effective. The biggest problem with this game is the characters ...

A flawed, but amazing visual novel that must be experienced by fans of Ace Attorney or Battle Royale. 0

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc is a frustrating game. On one hand, the premise is incredibly unique. Fifteen Japanese high school students arrive at Hope's Peak Academy, a high school for the best of the best. Each of them were chosen for being the "Ultimate" at what they do, whether it's being a popstar, baseball player, swimmer, gang leader (um, what?), etc, with the exception of the main character, Makoto, who got to attend the school just by winning a lottery. When they arrive at the scho...

One of the best horror games ever. 0

Corpse Party is the most disturbing game I have ever played.I mean, I've played some pretty gory games before. I've played God of War games, Mortal Kombat, Outlast, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, etc. But even with pixelated Super Nintendo-style sprites, Corpse Party managed to get under my skin in a way no other games have. At times, I found myself gasping, feeling sick to my stomach. One sequence had me so shaken I had curled my knees up into my chest, whimpering like a scared dog. It's a shame, t...
