You may be right and to be honest i dont follow F1 so i googled this just to see what you what u where talkling about and found this article.
The first FPS i played was halo so that should answer ur question. Not there is wrong with a keyboard and mouse but when you ur used to doing everything on a joystick it just feels weird to using a mouse and keyboard.
