E3 2011 Most Anticipated Games

E3 2011: SO MANY SEQUELS

List items

  • The first game gets a lot of hate (like, A LOT) but I didn't think it was that bad. I guess that ultimately doesn't matter, though, since Prey 2 looks like it has jettisoned pretty much everything that would tie it to the first game. The fact that it has been described as a mix between Red Dead Redemption, Blade Runner, and an FPS gets my blood running. I could not be more excited about this game.

  • I don't think it's possible to be more hyped for this game than I already am. I loved Oblivion and Fallout 3, so I am super excited to see what Bethesda's going to do with the world of Skyrim. Also, DRAGONZZZZZZZ.

  • More than anything else, I'm excited about the character interactions in this game. That has always been my favorite part of the Uncharted games. Even though they look to have tightened up the gameplay, I'm way more interested in the story and the character's. I guess the platforming's not too shabby either.

  • Yo, it's Halo 4. We know what to expect (mostly) and I can't wait.

  • After proving they could put out a new game in just a year and still make it incredible, I am totally on board with what Ubisoft is doing with Assassin's Creed. Even if it's more refinement than reinvention, I will still play the shit out of Revelations.

  • The buzz coming out of the show is completely off the charts for this. We all know that the first game was incredible, the second one less so (I always felt like I was on the verge of being lost). I kind of like that they're keeping stuff under wraps, but at the same time I want to see more of it. Maybe that's for the best, since my head might explode with anticipation.

  • I thought the demo for this looked incredible. When they started it, I couldn't tell if it was gameplay or a pre-rendered video; it just looked that good. The new "survival instinct" stuff looks interesting, although I hope they don't resort to too many QTEs.

  • I might need a new PC for this. That tank level they showed off was ridiculous. This will probably be one of the only games that I buy for PC instead of the 360. It just looks that good.

  • I admit, I am a huge sucker for military shooters. I've loved almost all of the COD games (with the notable exception of Black Ops) and I really want to see what happens to Soap and Captain Price. Oh, and the multiplayer should be pretty good too.

  • I liked what Far Cry 2 was trying to do, but it had enough little things that bugged me that I couldn't get through it. Far Cry 3 seems to be remedying a lot of those issues. Hopefully they can make good on their promise of a fully open-world FPS.

  • Like with Halo, yo, it's Mass Effect 3. We know what to expect, but that won't make this any less awesome. This is another example of the action being almost secondary to the story. Although they seem to have tightened up the action so that it behaves more like a 3rd-person shooter, which I have no problem with. P.S.: HOLOGRAPHIC KNIFE TO THE FACE

  • Arkham Asylum was a complete surprise; Arkham City looks like that times 10. Having the open world to explore looks great, and beating the crap out dudes with Batman's ninja moves is the most satisfying thing ever.

  • That trailer they released does the perfect job of setting the mood. Getting all the signature sound effects right, from the pulse rifle to the motion tracker, goes a long way to getting the atmosphere right. It also looks to be a highly competent shooter, so all the better.
