Annihilation 4/5

I liked it. It was a trip. Comparing it to similar/related movies like Ex Machina and Arrival, I think it lacked a focus and personal story that I could connect to. But it was a very inventive and, at times, creepy movie.

This was my first Yakuza game, so it was interesting watching the ending and trying to figure out how all the pieces fit into place for the following games.

Overall I really enjoyed it. Been going for about 70 hours and I'm only about 55% completion.

I agree with a lot of folks here that I thought a lot of pieces of the ending didn't quite fit. Majima's turn didn't quite get enough time for me to buy his shift at the end - I didn't even know the post credits scene is closer to is rest-of-Yakuza personality. His decision to still be a good Yakuza boy didn't really make sense to me, given what we'd seen of him, and I didn't understand why he had any love for Sagawa at all. However, even being able to talk this in depth about the story of a video game is a big credit to it, I think.

I really enjoyed the gameplay end of things. While there was a bit of clunkiness to it all (particularly in the menus), there was so much to do that it was easy to overlook. I used all the fighting styles in various situations, and got Kiryu's legend style, and dug that. I wanted to find out what happened at the end of the story, so I skipped out on completely doing the caberet missions, but I will get to them post game. The business stuff is REAL grindy after a point.

Overall I loved it. Looking forward to playing Kiwami 1 after finishing up 0 and probably taking a bit of a break, and then playing Kiwami 2 eventually. The only thing I'm worried about is I might have started with the best.

I feel like I'm playing a completely different game than the OP. Fluffy? Overly colorful, like a kids TV show? What the hell?

I was really hoping the story would get me into this game, but holy shit the first 20 minutes have put me way off of it. It's told so clunkily. Just point after point hitting you over the head with exposition and setup. I don't know about this...

@t_wah: @john1912: Great, thanks guys! I had inheritable traits backwards. So now I just need to look for a good inheritable trait in a high level weapon and equip it in my secondary slot! Cool.

Soul matching just literally takes a piece of gear and makes it the level of another piece of gear, right? So If I have a level 9 ax I like and I put a level 30 piece of trash into it, it raises the ax to level 30 and all the stats along with it?

I know there is some stuff about inheritable traits. Does only the inheritable trait go forward, and everything else is random? Or does everything just get better?

Ax only. I like slow, powerful weapons that I can get 1 hit in and then dodge around until I can hit again.

I don't really like the feel of the rest of the stuff I've tried, but maybe it's because I'm so used to the ax. You guys are making the sickle and spear sound pretty fun.

I also love headshotting guys with the ranged weapons. This game has one of the best head explosion animations ever.

Anyone who sat at home thinking "I can't vote for either of these candidates" or "my vote doesn't matter" or "I'm going to write in Bernie Sanders or vote for Gary Johnson to prove a point!" should be ashamed of themselves. I can't believe we allowed this to happen.

What a fucking shitshow. I'd love to get out of the US and leave this terrible president behind, but where is safe from this self centered piece of shit?
