" @buzz_clik said:Dude, are you serious? I suggest you go and watch the film again, because it looks like one viewing wasn't enough for you to fully comprehend the film...The story. It was entirely pointless and I didn't care for it. For no reason women can't get pregnant now. Why? Well because they're going for "less is more" approach! It's up to the imagination! blah blah blah, every excuse in the book to hide simple lazy writing. It's all the craze these days. But wait! Then a girl CAN get pregnant! so... yeah!" @Pinworm45 said:
" @buzz_clik said:I can't argue with that. But that scene in Children of Men isn't the only example of its pervading tone, cool effects and adept direction - for me, that scene is just indicative of what the film offers. What didn't you like? The acting? The story? "Not even the long tracking shot through the firefight in the street and into the building is worthy of praise? "Yeah, sure, it was a cool scene. So what? There was some cool scenes in the star wars prequels, and those movies sucked hard too. "
Okay, fine. It's stupid but I'll go with it. Then the movie is about.. getting the girl away from the government to put her on an island! YEAAH! I really want to cheer for a guy to take a girl AWAY FROM SCIENTISTS THAT CAN RESEARCH THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HER AND OTHER WOMEN TO SAVE OUR FUCKING RACE SO SHE CAN BE HAPPY ON SOME SHITTY ISLAND. There was a lot more I hate about that movie, but it's been a long, long time and I don't really remember. I didn't take issue with the direction and as far as I recall, the acting. I still thought it sucked. It was completely pointless, it was beyond mediocre, it had no story or plot to speak of, it was aggressively stupid, I was cheering AGAINST the alleged protagonists, and how people act like it's a really good movie is beyond me. So again, the direction may be fine, but it's like an orchestra expertly conducting a rendition of a Soulja Boy song. "
Firstly, we were never told why women were unable to get pregnant because nobody knew! It's got nothing to do with lazy writing. I also don't understand WHY it's important to know either, it would have been easy for the writers to come up with some bull shit excuse for why women cannot get pregnant, but no, what's the point? It's not lazy writing, if anything it's lazy watching on your behalf...
As for this evil guy helping the girl escape from the government and avoid scientist... well, you got this one completely wrong. He was in fact TRYING to get the girl to a sanctuary at sea where scientist are devoted to figuring out why women can't get pregnant. The government would've just taken the baby away from her.
Get your facts straight before mindlessly bashing a film. You could read the summary on IMDB and know more about the film then you seem to...
