Ah, Mag, my first frame... I guess it would have been 5 years ago. She used to be completely overpowered against Corpus because Polarize would cut a percentage of enemy shields and thus scale indefinitely with enemy level. With a sufficient power strength and range you could run through an entire map filled with 100+ level enemies spamming that one power and laugh as they all blow up around you. They eventually nerfed Polarize so it doesn't scale, but also gave it the ability to strip armor. So you might find it helpful against the Grineer as well.

For tougher missions you definitely want to bring your best gear, that's what it's there for. If Defense is giving you trouble though, you might want to look into that Vauban you have on your list. He's a good crowd control frame, his Bastille power especially is great for keeping overwhelming enemy waves at bay and giving yourself time to deal with them.

Valkyr used to be a favorite of mine, when she was modded properly you could keep her final power - Hysteria - going nearly continuously, making her basically permanently invulnerable. But the addition of Corpus units that cancel your powers and a nerf that significantly increased energy drain made her much less appealing to use.

Going back to the Plains and Fortuna now isn't actually a bad idea either. While the higher level content will probably be beyond you, even the initial, low level bounties can give some decent mods and other rewards that might be of help you.

And finally, I would really suggest you try turning on matchmaking, at least for some of the missions. It is what the game was intended for after all, and as you progress through the solar system to the outer planets, you're far less likely to encounter the crazy over powered players running through everything, and more likely to run into people like yourself who are playing through for the first time and just trying to complete all the nodes. And in endless modes, especially Survival, but also to an extent Defense and Interception, you're always free to just ignore the others and go off in a corner of the map and do your own thing.

@pythagosaurus: A shame the app isn't working for you, I'm having no trouble with it on my Sony TV. You could try watching through Kodi, which is what I was using before I found this app. The official GB Kodi Add-on is broken and long since abandoned, but there is an unofficial updated version that I think still works:

https://github.com/jimporter/giantbomb-kodi

You'll probably want to download the files directly from the in development "master" branch instead of the packaged releases, since those haven't been updated in several years.

Good luck with journey onward. Hopefully you'll make it to Neptune, which unlocks The Second Dream quest, which is one of the high points of the game story-wise.

(Oh, and if you do go back to farm the Jackal for more Rhino parts, be sure to look him up on the wiki to help make the fight less grueling. You can for example see there that his main body is armored, and very vulnerable to a Radiation/Puncture damage combo.)

On the Noclip documentary about Warframe, Creative Director Steve Sinclair relayed a story about how the Star Wars Galaxies dev team realized they were loosing the majority of their new players very shortly into the game. So they sat down and redesigned the introductory part of the game into something they felt was much more new player friendly. And it didn't help. But they kept at it, spending years and a lot of resources trying to increase new player retention... And it did't help. They were still loosing a majority of new players.

So Steve's kinda made his peace with it. They've done some things, like adding the opening quest. But in the end, Warframe is a giant, complicated, obtuse mess, and while that pushes a lot of players away, it's as you surmised... Digging into that mess is what keeps a lot of us coming back.

As for the rest, yeah, you've hit the initial hump. My immediate thought was to mention a few helpful items available through Nightwave, or give you a primer on trading. But as the previous posters noted, what you probably need is a veteran player to help you save some time. As Rapid suggested you could try hooking up with the guys in the PS4 clan. Or if you want more personal experience, give me your PSN id and I'll give you any level you want, from quickly pushing through missions to simply following you around with a Nekros (which aids in farming due to making enemies drop loot twice.)

Oh, yeah, you haven't written much about quests. I would have thought you'd have access to some more by now. They can be found on the Codex console, across from the Market one in the Orbiter. Some of them are actually pretty neat, and are definitely good for breaking up the monotony of regular missions. (EDIT: It looks like the next quest you'd get is Once Awake, which is awarded once you complete junction that leads to Mercury.)

...he was a drifter, moving from town to town... Oh yes, that game was my introduction to the wonderful world of "multimedia". A Quick Look would be great.

I played it too, picked it up on a whim when it was on sale. It's weird, obscure PS2 titles like this I wish we'd see more of on PSN, though the PS2 on PS4 program seems pretty much dead at this point.

@donatoqueen: Hmm, I haven't really gone through Unarchived in a good while, so I'd have to check there. The ones that really stick out in my mind were when they opened a Spotify playlist for the internet to mess with, and ended up with bangers like an accordion rendition of Toto's Africa.

Duing the early days of GB, Jeff and Ryan would drive to work together and occasionally stream the trip on services like Ustream and Justin.tv like Jeff now does on Mixlr. Sadly, unless someone thought to make backups of these at the time, I think they're lost to time. Not much help to you I guess, but I thought it was worth mentioning.
