@xbob42: Someone who doesn't tip their waiter is not making a choice to refrain from engaging with the system. They have already chosen to eat at that restaurant. They have chosen to engage with the system by doing business at an establishment in which workers rely on tips. They're just pretending to "not engage with the system" at the one point where that engagement can make the biggest impact. If you don't want to engage with the system, don't eat at restaurants like that.
It is not your responsibility, or my responsibility, or anyone's individual responsibility (other than an employer) to pay for a waiter's wage. But we do benefit from that system when we go out to eat, so the least we can do is tip the waiter. After that, we can choose to elect people who are interested in making sure all workers receive a living wage.
Hey, it's time for that classic holiday hit, "Giant Bomb Doesn't Have Any Premium Content at the Beginning of December!"
If you order the album now, you can get other great annual tracks like, "Are The Forums Less Active? Why Is That? Also I Don't Use Social Media," AND "Why I'm Not Renewing My Premium Subscription: A Manifesto."
And who can forget that classic, "Does It Feel Like We Get Fewer Quick Looks These Days?"
@royalghost: Hey, that's not fair. The man didn't spend a dime on his wedding!
Also, three Switches for a household with two people doesn't seem THAT terrible. But yeah, he spends a ton on wrestling stuff. To be fair, he probably works that into his budget every year, since he knows he's gonna do it, which means it doesn't feel like splurging at the time. If you set aside a set amount each paycheck for the big vacation you take every year, I can see how one wouldn't consider that splurging.
@kgr15: Yeah, and some of those single YouTubers are working 12+ hour days, sometimes 6 or 7 days a week, to make sure they always have new content. I'm okay with Giant Bomb not working their employees to death. I'm okay with them not living half of their lives in front of the camera so I can have stuff to watch.
The notion that there's "3-5 weeks of no content at all" is hilarious and demonstrably false. It's also spectacularly selfish to complain about your precious "content" when half the crew spends a week away from family, significant others, and (in Vinny's case) their children so they can make this content for you.
