@rejizzle: Well, actually... *pushes up glasses* that's not true.

Acronym origins for words are a lot rarer than people think they are; most of the time when someone tells you a word comes from an acronym, they're wrong. They are exceptions, of course (e.g. scuba and OK), but there's a lot of folk etymologies out there claiming words come from acronyms when they don't.

@atomicoldman: If they played a couple hours of a game, and decide they don't give a shit about it, again that is a legit reaction they can share, and that is something to say. The purpose of QLs is to be informative first and entertaining second, so whether you find a video entertaining is not really the primary concern. And yes, they got something wrong in the video. It happens. They probably make minor mistakes in every QL, but it doesn't invalidate their opinions of the game. Just this time people got in a tizzy over it, which happens every so often.

@jeska: What a weird comment. The purpose of a QL is to give their impressions of games that are coming out. While they obviously can't QL everything, if they played a couple hours of a game and didn't find it very interesting, that's absolutely a legit reaction they can and should share. I think some of you have confused this site with a YouTube channel, where people only stream games they like.

@curufinwe: I took a couple Japanese classes in college and one of the first things they taught you in the intro class was how to pronounce your name in Japanese. My name (Brian) was pronounced something like "Bu ri an". That was a pronunciation that was then used by multiple professors and TAs, all of whom were native Japanese speakers. In other words, Japanese speakers aren't going to pronounce American (or other Western) names "accurately", so why get hung up on the reverse?

@loktarogar: I don't see what's unreasonable about expecting a game to be fun from the beginning. If a game isn't fun 30 minutes in, then I'm probably not going to get to 3 hours, much less 30.

@bran_smith: That's a pretty silly comment to make, since he calls a new game "great" in this very episode (Donut County) and talked about how much he liked a new game last week (Dragon Quest XI).

Every time @danryckert brings up the law and the great respect he supposedly has for it, and how people shouldn't break it, blah blah blah, I wish someone on the podcast would bring up that he's broken the law plenty of times. Letting off a stink bomb in a bar is certainly against the law, even if it's just a catch-all "disturbing the peace" type law, and his trick of getting a used popcorn bucket at the movies so he can get refills for free is almost certainly theft. Also: underage drinking.

Here's something you duders are missing. Ted Dabney was a games industry figure, TB was not. He was a games coverage figure. They rarely discuss news about games coverage or the people who work in it on the Bombcast. It's not that they never mention those stories (since they've talked about PewDiePie), but it's very rare.

I imagine if any decently well known developer dropped dead today, they'd talk about it on the next Bombcast, but I doubt they'd mention it if, say, Jim Sterling died. That isn't political, it's simply what they want to cover on the podcast; they focus on the people who make games, not the people who review/play them. Probably the only games coverage people they'd eulogize (outside of one of their own dying again) is former members or people who appeared on a lot of GB shows (like Danny O'Dwyer or Mary Kish). TB was on a couple GB things years ago, but that's true of a lot of people.

@twoarmed: Well, you and the guy you were replying to both talked about how Dan and Abby don't have the same degree, because Dan has a General Studies degree with a concentration in Film Studies, rather than a degree in Film Studies (the difference is probably 15-20 credits in Film Studies classes, mostly higher level ones, if I had to guess). My point is that's irrelevant, they still wouldn't have the same degree even if Dan did have a BA in Film Studies, because there's a difference between Film (making films) and Film Studies (the history and critical theory of film). You might have known that, but you didn't say it, and I felt it was worth bringing up.

@twoarmed: Well, there's a difference between "film school" where you learn how to make films and "film studies" which is the study of film as an art form (watching a lot of movies and analyzing the themes, symbols, what have you). It's like the difference between a Creative Writing degree and one in English. Or like the difference between a Fine Arts degree in painting and one in Art History; for the latter you might never pick up a brush.
