I loved Target Earth! It was so weird and anime and HARD and kinda busted and full of weird secrets. I got it with my Genesis, and played through it dozens of times.

Man, I feel like Jeff might want to revisit Mass Effect 3. His opinions are 100% valid, but I feel like if he looked at it now with fresh perspective he might feel differently. The way he talks about the story in that game and how they wrapped things up is just so different from my own experiences and those of everyone else I know who played through that game. I remember being really jazzed about at least 80% of the story beats that went on during my run, and nothing ever hits 100%... But Jeff just sounds like his experience was just a total train wreck from start to finish and I wonder if some outside factors are playing into that memory, and a fresh playthrough now might be more enjoyable.

The triangle strategy thing is totally Tactics Ogre (the largely forgotten precursor to Final Fantasy Tactics), which is pretty awesome. I, like Jan, also was a lot cooler on Octopath traveler, though I know exactly why. I have a strong aversion to stories that feature sexual abuse and one character's route is all about that... it ruined the rest of the game for me.

Excited for Skyward sword, I never got around to playing it, as I never had a Wii at the right time. I was really hoping for some Breath of the Wild 2 news, but I can use a new-to-me Zelda to tide me over.

This is going to be a great series. While i've never dipped into Rogue, i have played a lot of DCSS, and a little bit of Sil and Moria. The chance of Ben even seeing the amulet of Yendor, much less ascending, in 13 runs is astronomically low. I'm here for every single moment of this.

I know I'm in the minority about this, but slightly juvenile writing that thinks it's way more serious and important than it actually comes across as is exactly how I would describe The Witcher series as well. I really tried to like all three but it was always the sense that I was in a world written by and for 14 year old edgelords that made me stop playing in every case. While I'm sad to hear cyberpunk is much the same, I can't say I'm one bit surprised.

I told my wife about the fake RBG ram Brad mentioned, she immediately said "Is that like the fake testicles people get for their fixed dogs??"

Yes. It is exactly that.

I'm always a little suspicious when someone claims there's a spot where you have to grind in a JRPG, no offense meant to Ben. I've been playing JRPG's since the original NES when Grinding is what JRPGs were. I've never seen a JRPG where you had to grind since Final Fantasy II/4 on the SNES, which is where they figured out how to balance XP to keep you from having to grind to progress through the main story.

Optional bosses? Side content? Yes, you might need to grind a little, or a lot, for those. But I can't think of a single JRPG in over 25 years where main story progression was locked behind a grind. I've seen lots of people *claim* that grinding was needed, usually because they were missing out on a basic mechanic that was kicking their butt and assumed it was because they were under leveled. It's such a go-to but ultimately baseless attack on JRPG's that they require grinding that I usually assume the person making it is just missing something. Not saying that's what's happening here, but I wonder if there's a mechanic or tick that Ben's missing that's causing this difficulty spike.

My wife and I almost couldn't watch this stream at first... Having a 3 year old and a 1 year old it hit a little too close for comfort, we were actually getting a little stressed out ourselves! We kept going though, and we loved how Abby unironically is finding out how the best birth control in the world is having a baby already!
