From my experience on guild sites with tier based access to content: the more private rooms with public doors that you establish, the more otherwise happy people will be convinced they are being screwed.
Well folks, I just upgraded to the yearly Whiskey pass (including t-shirt for an extra $10 in Canada) and I had a few thoughts.
I had never paid money to a website before to access content. Even in the early days of internet porno I had resisted the urges. That said, I think that the content here and the business model both mesh with my sensibilities. I am tired of the relentless marketing that overwhelms not just the Net but also meatspace. I want to read and watch funny shit about video games and I don't want to be annoyed by the baser necessities of revenue generation.
I hope this membership initiative is a success and for purely selfish reasons I hope a few more of you decide to subscribe so we can listen to these jackholes bray ridiculousness for some time to come.
I have to say I think that quests are bull puckey as I view the site more than single digit times a day and I find the quests to be exploitative for pageview reasons. I find them callow and base. This is the future we have made for ourselves.
