I’m definitely going to wait just like I did with the Witcher 3 as that paid off in spades for me. Seems like there is a lot of stuff that needs to be ironed out still which is fine, plenty of games to play and all that.
One thing that I can’t seem to shake though as I watch this quick look is just how busy everything seems. The UI seems like it’s a bit much to me at least and I don’t know why because it probably conveys the same amount of information as like a Doon 2016 but it’s just more in your face I guess.
That coupled with the tone of the game is kind of off putting. I know it’s Cyberpunk and I’m assuming this is what the pen and paper stuff was like maybe? I’m not sure as I never read or played that at all. The whole IN YOUR FACE ALL THE TIME tone seems to be a bit much. For me of course.
Adjacent to that is I wonder what kind of FOV setting Vinny had because I actually got a little nauseous watching this at times. Doesn’t help that the video was very choppy. I know they gave the preface that new drivers were installed which lowered performance so this is a minor complaint.
I’m honestly surprised that for as long as this game has been in production that it looks so half baked. It’s probably wayyy better than this video portrayed though. However I’m still super happy that I decided to wait a long while to play this.
@faridmon: you understand that many many people worked hard on this game right? You hoping that this game will fail because of one single person, who probably doesn’t contribute much at all to development, is saying that you would prefer many people potentially lose their jobs because of one person. Am I understanding this correctly? Games are made by many many people who you rarely ever hear about but all you care about is sticking it to one guy.
Call me old I don’t really care but seriously why even bother with social media at all in today’s climate? I used to have a Twitter account years and years ago. I rarely tweeted but I used to enjoy to read what people had to say.. until about 2014 when it got unbearable. I deactivated my account and have not used any form of social media since (never had a Facebook account ever). I honestly do not see any benefit to any of it at all. Sure you can get news faster but why the fuck would you want that now?
I feel bad for both people who got fired, losing a job sucks and it’s even more stressful today and than exponentially worse in a game development field. Should Arena Net gone in a different direction? Sure, but I’m not gonna pretend to know what happened day to day there.
I will not pass judgement on anyone in this because it’s fruitless. This is an all around shitty situation where nobody feels good. I just hope that everyone can learn from this going forward whatever that may be.
I didn’t watch this and I think I’ll pass. I liked this game when I was younger because it has a good sci-fi horror story.
Granted I’m taking this from the comments which is probably my own fault but it bums me out that a game like this with the subject matter it has cannot be viewed from a more intellectual perspective rather than throwing out claims that the author is a mygonist because of a fictional character he wrote.
Could he have been one? Maybe, hell if I know but I sure as shit won’t label him as one off of a fictional story he wrote that was transferred into a mid 90’s point and click adventure game.
This quick look was indeed frustrating, wish Ben put some more forethought or effort before doing it. However, the game looks good and I’ll play it at some point.
This is Giantbomb people, this video was made because Alex was under the weather and it's clearly made for comedy. I would never consider coming to this video for any in depth covervage of this game. It was made as a one off video for laughs.
I've never played this game before and I would never judge the merit of it based on this video. It's annoyingly rude to simply dismiss this game as garbage when all you have to base that on is a couple of people goofing around.
