Cigarettes and Coffee, Fuel to a addict

Rather than discuss games, I thought I'd talk about the worlds greatest killer, Tobacco. Well, its not really the worlds greatest killer. That trophy goes to Leon from The Professional. It does have a better K/D ratio than you could ever imagine having. The fascination of being cool in High School started with these little trouble makers. I can remember walking by the Starbucks every morning next to our school and seeing the groups of fellow students sipping on overpriced coffee and cancer sticks while discussing yesterdays news, who talked shit about who, who made out with who, who put toilet paper rolls in the science wings toilets just to get out of a test, thinking how awesome it would be to join them and actually be accepted. Everyone goes through these dark times of figuring out where exactly it is you fall in life and for me, a high school freshman, this happened to be difficult to do. Until I had a pretty decent conversation with a future smoking buddy in Algebra 2. After that I got someone to buy me a pack, walked to Starbucks and stopped to socialize rather than do what I did every other day, which was keep on walking past and head home. I can remember the enjoyment I found in those years of cigarettes and coffee before and after school.

That was simply my exposure to these tasty yet dangerous "friends". After high school many of the people I socialized with went on with their lives. I see these people every once in awhile but most of them I haven't seen once in the four years since my graduation. The only friend I've stuck with since high school is the five dollar pack of American Spirits you can find in my glove compartment. Sad part about it is that I don't even like hanging out with them anymore, its an ugly relationship we share. I wake up and don't want anything to do with them. Thats what I tell myself at least but with in a few hours of breakfast and work I find myself wanting to hang out, see whats new, usually ends up being the same old. I go ahead and follow through with this sudden urge. I grab my bic, my friend, who I then light on fire, standing outside left to myself with no unique experience and the sound of burning tobacco and paper.. After a few moments catching up, I put him away along with my bic and go back to whatever it was I was doing. Often regretting ever catching up. This is what happens nearly six to seven times a day. It truly is a nasty habit.

I've tried quitting cold turkey but often find myself picking up a pack after a few days to start catching up once again. I've gained nothing from our relationship other than bad breath, breathing problems and hands that smell of burnt tar. If anyone ever tells you they smoke because they want to and have been smoking for more than a few weeks, they are lying. They smoke because nicotine they have already put in their system as passed and their brain starts to crave more, so they themselves start to crave another encounter  with this deceitful buddy. I just purchased a pack of nicorette gum and  are about to start a journey. Because thats what quitting cigarettes becomes, its not as simple as ignoring calls or emails from someone you no longer want to talk to. Because this friend will always find a way to suck you in. Only thing you can do once you get addicted to their company is look it in the face and kick it in the nuts.

Batman AA: Awesome

Found this game recently and started playing it again. Have to say, what a fucking awesome game. I really took it for granted the first time I played it.

Gears of War 2 battle cry of your death

So just posting a quick question really. I played a lot of Gears of War online. Enough to get the Serious Achievement. That game was rather broken in more then one way but still enjoyable for the most part. I recently bought Gears of War 2, which I missed out on due to a COD4 addiction/itch/face-melting experience. Well, there is a pretty big difference between the two games. I didn't really expect much but after playing a bit online have to say that they really amped up the whole team aspect of the game. Really forcing you to either move in packs or set up ambushes of sorts. Enjoyable over all and something I plan on playing a lot of in the future. My only complaint, what would a blog be if I took things just as they were and didn't complain about something. The shotgun, I loved Gears of Wars shotgun. I have to say that it was probably the most enjoyable way to get a kill next to popping someones head with either a pistol or sniper rifle. Immediate differences I've noticed between the two games is that the shotgun in Gears 2 shoots slower and does a significantly less amount of damage. It also seems to lag more in Gears 2 than it did in Gears1, not all the time though; I guess who's hosting the game plays into how well the shotgun is.

Question for fans: If you played Gears1 and Gears2 what are your thoughts on this? Also state whether you prefer the Gears 1 or Gears 2 shotgun and state why if you can.

Modern Warfare 2 and Vomit

I have been an avid Call of Duty fan for years. I can remember back to the release of COD2 on 360 at launch with fondness. The calling in sick just to play online for hours. What many would call obsessed, which looking back on it was probably the proper term, was some of my most enjoyable online gaming moments of my life. All of that sorta took a turn for the worse when COD3 was released. I really wish I could put a finger on what it was about that game that drove me crazy. Just something about it, probably the annoying medics who found the dreadful act of killing me, reviving me, and then repeating enjoyable. Then there was the stunning transistion from WWII to Modern Warfare that left me with practically no human contact for a month. I can remember the incessant pleasures of my drives home from school and work knowing that the second I walked through the door and turned on my XBOX I would find nothing but gratification in the hours ahead. I don't think I purchased another game for close to a year.

Anyways, the reason I'm talking about this is because as of recently, and I'm not entirely sure if this is due to finally growing up or just pure and utter discouragement at the changes that have been made to MW2. I, like many, found grenade launchers to be a pest. Being a huge Hardcore Search and Destroy fan found myself thinking the same thing everytime a fellow gamer was able to launch a grenade launch AKA noobtube into our spawn at the beginning of the game. It became such an turn off that I found myself indulging in gametypes such as team deathmatch, which I've for the most part found pointless in the sense that you gain practically nothing at the expense of alot of work. I can remember discussions held with fellow S&D fans, about the great nes that could possibly have existed had IW simply realized that Hardcore fans for the most part are all about the intense firefights and not the randomness that is a death by noobtube. I should have first clarified that I do not think that grenade launchers don't belong in the game. I do believe though that they have their place and it is not at all in the hardcore game modes. If there is anyting that WAW did right was making it rather difficult to get your hands on these exasberating tools of destruction. I digress onces again, with the recent additions of the thumper, AT4 and so on. I have found myself unable to enjoy MW2. I switched to Team Deathmatch once again and still find that the noobtube is rather over powered. I don't intend to speak for everyone, this is purely my opinion on the matter but considering I've only played hardcore settings find that when I look back on all of the hours put into the game. The most consistent moment of enjoyment was back on WAW. A game I at the time did not consider that great. As of now though I find that I really never found myself as frustrated as I currently am.

I at the moment have put MW2 on my shelf. Actually went out and bought Gears of War 2, which is rather frustrating as well but I think everyone will agree that when you get a kill in that game its very satisfying. Anyways, I don't want to leave this blog as if its unfinished and I should probably wait for more time to finish but I'm pretty busy at the moment and don't know if I'd ever get back to this. All I want to leave you guys with, my non-existent fans, is what is your opinion on this? MW2 in a whole is a great game. I have found myself in many games where nobody used a single grenade launcher and have to say that just about everybody in those lobbies agreed that those were some of the best moments of my online gaming interactions on MW2.

Conker: Live and Reloaded

I don't know why exactly but I wish they would release yet another remake of this game....it was so good on both N64 and the original Xbox. "Ey so you want some money, buddy." "Sooo, your lookin for that green stuff."

Modern Warfare 2

So here we are, only 3 and ahalf months left untill the release of what many are referring to as the most anticipated release in video game history (seems as if we have heard that said very often the last few years. Halo2, Halo 3, COD4, GTA4). Two trailers have been released, aswell as a seven minute video of the very first mission in COD:MW2. Have to say that I haven't seen a game as hyped as this one is that has released as much footage at this stage of development. Alot to take in already and if rumors are true there is still quite a bit left.

Couple of days ago I read of a possible BETA release sometime late September to early October, a time in which all COD4 fans who haven't pre-orderd their MW2 copies give off a  thunderous battle cry and charge towards the nearest Gamestop, slap their 5 dollars down and fiendishly demand their Beta keys. Atleast that is what I intend to do since I have yet to put any money down for this game at all. Although all of that might change with the recent news of a pair of night vision googles being released with the 'elite' collectors edition, which will cost $150....so the money I didn't have to put down for a $60 copy has suddenly appeared and I now find my self able to throw down twice that and then some, are video games not great.

All I really have to say about MW2 right now, I could say more but for the most part it's something you've already heard, which much of this blog already consists of if your a avid gamer and obsessive follower for such games. Once more is released on the game, such as achievement lists, weapons, new perks, and hopefully a few screen shots or videos of multiplayer maps. Really can't wait to see some of those, hear the maps will be unlike any COD maps we've played before, but again thats comeing for the most part from teenagers that get a hard on at the thought of a M4 Carbine recoiling against their shoulder, or maybe that was me after waking up from such a dream.
