I can't think of a game Jeff should have reviewed less. Survival aspects, serious upkeep mechanics of both your equipment and your base, a horde mode like wave based coop mode. This game was like custom built out of all the things Jeff has been pretty vocal about disliking.

Not saying he shouldn't review whatever he wants but it's like "oh guy who hates survival games doesn't like new survival game, shocker"

Yeah it's a bit weird, especially since he has a history of modding out the survival elements (Dying Light) I feel like Brad would have been better suited to review this.

That being said I enjoyed the game but I cant argue with the score even if I find the actual written review a bit lacking. This would have been a 3 star game for me if it werent for the micro-transactions, which dont really get in the way but on principle the way they have been implemented is abhorrent.

Glad to see Yakuza 0 in there, shame it didnt even get in the staff's top ten despite Beast in the East being the best video series GB did last year.

Where are Hellblade and Persona 5 in the best looking game category!?

Hellblade was mentioned but apparently it's too brown or something. I did think it was weird they kept gushing about Pyre when Persona 5 did the visual novel thing much more effectively. OPINIONS!

@asmo917: You can buy as many moons as you want past a certain point and there's a character in the area where the moons are deposited in that video who will give you moons for "achievements" so it's the best place to rack up a lot in one go.

I enjoyed Hyrule Warriors but that may have been due to fan service. This looks like that but without the Z targeting and equipment? Swapping to people in different areas seems cool at least.

Not a scary game, was really hoping for Alien Isolation.

I was hoping for Alien Isolation but maybe the intro for that would have been too long.

They could have done like they did with Until Dawn, just start at a later point.

I might be misremembering but doesnt Alien: Isolation also have a slow start? It's been awhile since i've played it.

But yeah this was an odd choice, these games are more action horror than anything. (the first game especially)

I'll probably play this at some point. I enjoyed that Alien: Infestation game that Wayforward did. Hopefully this has an equally dumb credits song.

I tried the Gothic games but they were just too buggy for me. I enjoyed Risen though. I'll probably play this at some point, not in any rush though.

I'm at about chapter 6 so far and while i'm enjoying it I still prefer the first game. This one just doesnt seem to have as much variety and it also moves a lot slower. It's definitely more polished though.

Starfox 2 seems like a mess, and i'm not just talking about the framerate. (since the first was like that too) Adding layers to a game is great when it's warranted but the XCOM esque % til fucked just seems tedious.

Oh well, it's cool that's finally out but I dont trust reviewers to look past the novelty and weirdness of the situation to give it a fair score. (if they give it one) Not that it matters that much, it's not like it's buying advice since you already know whether you're willing to jump through hoops to get the SNES mini or not.

That being said the whole package looks great, with a slick and friendly presentation and lots of good games. Shame about the supply shortage.
