Headphones and toiler paper.

It´s great to save money. I like that I bought these great quality pants at a great price, while some people buy 200 dollars pants.
But there are times when saving money is just not worth it. Headphones and toilet paper are two good examples.
After years of cheap ass headphones, I found these ones. Note that they are still pretty cheap, but the difference with other models is exponential.
I also found that you don´t need to get the volume as high, since the sound is more clear. You'll find out sounds in your music that you had no idea were there.
*Bombcast beware: Brad's voice sounds deeper*
And with toiler paper: Gee, well, just try one of the nice ones. You'll appreciate the difference.

Funny non-Pc Dreamcast ad.

I found this ad on a Gamepro from 2000.
I don´t think this ad would be looked with good eyes this days, though.

I have Valkyria Chronicles! A PS3? No yet.

I had the money in my pocket last weekend as I was ready to buy the PS3. Then I looked at the wall where they have the games and realized I really didn't have the urge to play any of those games.
So I though I would let the buy simmer for another week in my brain.
Later I went to this other store where I saw Valkyria Chronicles and remembered how much I wanted to play it when it came out. I quickly bought it because it's one of those games that stores don't carry too much of. Sadly the PS3 price on that store was like 50 dlls higher, so I decided to buy it the next day on the cheaper store.
Then the stupid rumors about the PS3 Slim and the price cut started to become a little less stupid...
Now I will have to wait until the 23rd, when GamesCon is over and they announce or not the PS3 Slim. And if they do, when it will come out.
Meawhile I have Valkyria Chronicles looking at me, asking me when it's ok to come out and play.

Games I want to like.

We all have games we hate, but are ok with that. We like to hate them. We have totally valid arguments to validate our points and can discuss with their fans on what is wrong with them. Or at least what we think it is wrong with them.
My problem is the games I wish I liked.
Example: Adventure games. SubExample: Monkey Island.
This was the perfect time. The sequel of an all time favourite, one of the best of the genre.
I pre-ordered it. The package with all the episodes and the dvd cover or whatever TellTale was offering as a bonus.
I totally convinced myself that I would love it, the story sounded good, the previews were giving it thumbs up.
Everything was great the first hour or two of the game, a few chuckles here and there and some exploration. I was having a good time.
Then I went into "The Jungle", where you see this pirate playing with toys, when you have to click all of the dialogue options to advance. That´s where the magic ended. I advanced a little bit more on the jungle maze until I felt physical anxiety. I had to stop.
I haven´t played it since then, and that sucks, I really wanted to like it.
It is weird because I remember loving Snatcher back in the day. So I don´t really know why I haven´t been able to keep my focus on another game of the genre.
What are the games you´d want to like?

Luchadeer, now in 3D! part 1

These days have been a little slow at work, so I decided to give Luchadeer a 3d treatment.
I will fix a few bumps and proportions here and there and then move to texturing.
Critiques are welcomed.

Oh, you teenagers.

Two times a year, summer and winter, two of my cousins come to the city to stay here with the family. They normally stay for two or three weeks tops.
Because I was the one on vacation when they got here and because I was closer to their age, I was the one who took care of the fun for them.
As the years pass I feel that every time they come there are less and less things for them to do here, even on the big city. Lots of stuff that was fun before, like all the kiddie stuff, is not attractive for them anymore, and they are not old enough to go to places by themselves or do what grown-ups do for fun.
For me (and I assume for a lot of people here), videogames or any other kind of nerdy hobby would be enough to spend the summer, but not for these guys. They are 16 and 13, a boy and a girl.
Now I have a job, luckily, so I just take care of them on the weekends, still I fell a little bad for the guys and kinda hopeless when they get bored. Also a little pissed off of their "entertain me im bored" attitude.
So any suggestions on what to do with these guys? Or is this just a natural phase that they should go through?

Bad Prototype site.

Remember those awful times when all internet sites had an annoying Flash intro that lasted forever, didn´t contribute at all to your experience visiting the site, and were unavoidable?
I though those days were over, web developers surely learned their lesson well.
I was mistaken.
Have you seen the Prototype site?
Why is it so damn slow and jerky? This computer handles goddamned Maya pretty good. I can have objects with thousands of polygons on one screen and play an HD video in my other monitor without a problem. Why can´t I see that game´s site without wanting to rip my eyes out?
Does anyone have the same issue?
On another note: Game looks amazing :P

I thought I didn't care about the points.

I have less than 600 achievement points. In part because getting points is not one of my priorities when playing a game. Also because I had this bad experience/confusion when signed on to XBOX live. I had finished Assassins Creed, Gears of War on hard and Dark Sector. All that was lost.
I would never play for more than an hour or so just to get an achievement. I so much didn't care about the points. Or so I thought.
Recently, after finishing GTAIV on the Xbox, I moved to Mass Effect on the PC. After an hour or so of playtime, a legend appeared on the screen that read: Achievment. After a little research on the web, I realized that there are games than you can play on the Pc that add points to your Xbox live score. Mass Effect isn't one of them. When I finish that game, nothing is gonna be left of it.
There's when I realized how cool it is to have achievements, a global score of games you have played.
It's not just a measuring stick against other people. Not a way to claw your way up to the top of the leaderboards. It's my gamer's diary. My Life as a Gamer Memoirs.
I like going into the dashboard and opening the achievements tab. I like remembering the games I have played, and the moments in which I unlocked certain achievment. It's like watching the pictures of that cool trip to the beach.
Long live Achievement Points.

Edit: spelling.
