For fuck's sake. I thought *I* was jaded. This was easily the best conference by far. Instead of one or two interesting titles, it was almost wall to wall interesting titles and no BS. And all they can do is whine about how "I really feel there's something missing" in this gorgeous pacific northwest based biker post-apocalypse zombie narrative based action game?! And how awkward Matt and Tre seemed (really? did they?).
I felt like they were just two minutes away from asking us all to agree that "games are stupid" and going on a rant about canape.
Maybe it's time to pack shit up and go write plaintive missives for HuffPo.
Given Rowan's childish attitude and juvenile attacking of John Bain in the past (a guy I have no particular love for, but doesn't deserve to be attacked), this is a very disappointing reveal.
I always appreciated how GiantBomb really tended to aim for the good-nature of gaming and this goes directly counter to that. :/
WHAT!? it was the most gaming of gaming content. WE WERE THE GAME!
That's what I thought too! :D
I programmed and started that twitchidler nightmare stream as I saw Jeff's tweet. I thought this should be fine since there's even Progress Quest and Cookie Clicker streams on twitch.
Thanks for everyone who "played" and it's an honor to have made a "game" that was talked on the Bombcast after being a listener for years!
The kill screen of Twitch idler 3000 after 62 hours. RIP
When will the podcasts be up? Previous years, there were podcasts up every single day for like a week. So far, there hasn't been anything since last week's regular tuesday podcast on the 22nd.
And most adults don't even know five people who gam. Much less the same genre... Much less the same platform... Much less the same schedule availability.
Ugh. The whole flying thing reminds me of Saints Row IV, which was completely ruined by turning it into an "invincible super hero who doesn't even need cars" game.
This looks exactly like the stuff you do in the first hour of the game. This does not give me any encouragement for continuing beyond where I am in the game. :/
Like.. the same water stuff . . . the pulling levers down by jumping and clinging on to them... the same float on a pallet in the water thing... the same "make water fill up this area" thing... with exactly the same aesthetics/environment.
I was also disappointed by the story, which seemed practically cloned right from Uncharted... which was pretty much cloned from . . . every other adventure movie of the last fifty years. Even the bad guy you come across in the first hour seemed (and dressed) almost identical to the bad guy from one of the Uncharted games. Or maybe that was Far Cry 3. . . . Shit, I can't remember.
I'm also really really really really really really really tired of every game having to involve aliens, zombies, or ghosts/supernatural stuff. Everything short of sports games pretty much involves those, even when they'd be better served by not doing so. (For example, why does Fallout need zombies/enormous weird mutants that can't be explained by simple radiation? Why does Uncharted need those weird supernatural blue dudes?). You could play a drinking game about that crap -- even extending to some sports games!
