I'm playing playing on XB1 and even there it seems to run much better than the last gen versions. It's not going to blow your mind, and it's still got some of the weird bugs, but it's not nearly as broken as Alex made it out to be. My understanding is that it runs a bit better on PS4 as well and I haven't heard anything about 0 fps (which I personally suffered on PS3; literally began hard-locking my system whenever I went under water).

I actually like the random boosts thing at lvl 50. It's an okay way to force myself to use something other than map hack. I actually wish there was a random loadout option, because I find myself using the same gun and gear all the time.

Just finished this up over the weekend. Overall, I think it's a fantastic game. Really beautiful from an audiovisual standpoint, I'd say a showcase game for 3DS hardware. The story vignettes can be quite good, though the overall plot is standard jrpg fare. The tone of the story at certain points is actually really dark for a game with such cheerful looking characters and monsters. The battle system is relatively simple despite all the classes.

Some of the design decisions are pretty old school though, for the worse. Spell descriptions and enemy weaknesses aren't that clearly spelled out. Inventory management is a nightmare. Lots of required traveling back and forth through winding dungeons without much to justify the backtracking. Complaints about the game's length are somewhat justified. I say somewhat because the episodic nature of the vignettes makes it easier to digest in small chunks without being completely lost next time you pick up the game. But, the backtracking plus some story twists add about 15 hours more to the game than are necessary. I finished in 70 hours, but I think around 50-55 would have been a much better place to wrap up. The Trump-esque victory tour at the end could've been trimmed down to a cut scene or something. There's lots of post-game content, but I think I've had my fill at this point.

Despite the negatives, I really do think this is a fantastic game on the whole and recommend it to any 3DS owners looking for a good RPG or a game with great 3D.

I got one super cheap over Black Friday, and it's great as a stop gap. I didn't want to spend as much on a PS4 pro or upgrade my PC, and I know Scorpio's down the road as well. I'm hesitant about getting a PS4 slim too now that pros on the market. The TV stuff is cool and I like the community integration. Basically, it's nice to have access to current gen cheaply through XB1 while I wait and see how Pro/Scorpio pan out.

I don't know if it's because I came into this with too much hype (likely) or because I'd just finished Doom (also likely), but this campaign just really let me down. It's short like most AAA shooter campaigns, but I was expecting a little more substance based on all the praise it was getting. Yeah, there are some cool gimmicks like the time-travel bracelet, the platforming, and so on, but these gimmicks are so fleeting that I barely had the time to get used to them before they were gone. These mechanics could have been fleshed out into a much more meaningful game rather than the tease they end up being in a 5 hour campaign that whisks you through set pieces before you have the chance to really master them. Honestly, I think the game would be better if the time bracelet were a primary mechanic throughout the whole game and the Titans were just a one-off gimmick.

I'm sure multiplayer is really where you get good at the platforming and stuff, but I mostly bought the game for campaign. For multi, pilots only is the only mode I really like, and I'd rather just be playing COD at that point. I don't know. I guess the game just isn't for me, though I see flashes of brilliance and can understand why Jeff and others hold it in high regard.

Only recently got a current gen console, so still catching up on new games from earlier this year. I also played a lot of remasters this year. At the moment, I'd say:

1. Doom - I even like the multiplayer

2. Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD - One of my favorite Zeldas, loved running through the dungeons again and it benefited a lot from the jump to HD

3. Dragon Quest VII 3DS - Wonderful music, graphics, animations, battles. Nothing revolutionary, still overstays its welcome a bit, but very solid all around.

4. Forza Horizon 3 - Looks beautiful, great driving physics

5. Battlefield 1 - Gorgeous, campaign vignettes were a nice change of pace

6. Pokemon Sun/Moon - Hate the fact battles aren't in 3D, but lots of smart changes

7. Skyrim SE - I loved Skyrim and I played through on PS3 the first time so this might as well be a new game. Much better experience this go round.

8. Zelda: Twilight Princess Picross - It's Picross, it's Zelda, and I didn't have to pay for it. Playing miitomo paid off.

9. Phoenix Wright: Spirit of Justice - Love Phoenix wright formula, looks great in 3D decent story.

10. Pocket Card Jockey - wackiest, got me into solitaire for a bit

For me, it's either Skyrim or the Neo Geo catalog generally. Skyrim SE of all games is what finally gave me the push to get a new console, though truthfully the console is more of stopgap until I put together a PC. I also got a CMVS this year, so all the Neo Geo classics--Metal Slug, Windjammers, Neo Turf Masters, Garou--have been in heavy rotation.

You know, I do kind of wonder whether Sony misinterpreted joking support for Knack as real enthusiasm for the game. Regardless, should be interesting to see how it turns out. It looks like it will be another decent platformer for younger PS fans.
