Well in a few weeks I am going to buy one of two games.
Option A - Battlefield Bad Company 2 - A pretty generic but nevertheless well executed military fps that stands out to me, especially the multiplayer. Played the beta for a bit and it's pretty awesome, I want an online military shooter cus I got VERY bored at the overrated MW2.
OR
Option B - Heavy rain - Heavily story driven, different, fresh, and a new idea that I appreciate. I have alot of time for these type of games cus they diverge from the norm and the developers take a risk, which I like. But I know it will be short and I'm unsure about the replayability.
I found it interesting that my choice is similar to what developers must face nowadays when pitching ideas for a new ip. Do you take a risk...risk wasting time, money etc. but possibly pull off a masterpiece? Or do you stick to the well tested and proven formula of creating a rather generic but good fps that will more than likely sell?
