Finally, the time has come for Dan and Jeff to be just as perplexed by the end of the series as we all were when we first saw it.
"Wait, that's how it ends?"
The ending becomes more bizarre when you take into the account the events of Dragon Ball Super.
It makes more sense when you realize "Heading off to the left" is basically a universal shorthand for "And the adventure continues..." in manga.
Though that doesn't explain the whole reincarnation thing. Toriyama randomly remembering the importance of Buddhism in the source material, maybe?
I think it's nothing more than Toriyama just being so damn done considering he had to do this weekly for so many years and considering how much of a work load mangaka have, it's amazing he lasted that long.
edit: as for unsolicited recommendations for stuff to watch, og dragon ball but not with the english dub and yu yu hakusho
This is totally aside but if Toriyama was done by that point, how in the hell is Eiichiro Oda still alive? That dude has been working on the same manga since 1997.
One topic that need ironing out is best debut, because it was obvious in those discussions that some staff strongly felt "debut" meant something much different than others did, and too much discussion was spent on hashing out what the category meant.
These categories won't ever be perfect (best style for example) but I think best debut can be honest in for next year.
@rerunaway: The problem with this take is that you are such a slave to a shitty system that you don't even know it. Your reality didn't have to be what it was any more than workers at Rockstar's were. You are suffering from a failure of imagination, and it's sad because if you could imagine a world in which people aren't treated like shit so others can make scabs of money you would spend less time defending it and more time supporting changing it.
I wonder how much it's nostalgia vs how difficult it's been for the Bombcast to reach the levels of quality it was at since before Ryan passed, that is the reason for so many of these clips being in the Ryan Davis days.
I had never listen to a podcast before I started listening to the Giant Bombcast, but I remember specifically that in my Gap year between high-school and University when I was washing trucks for 50 to 60 hours a week I started tuning in and after working through the back catalog with the arrow pointing down podcast, to today, I have never missed a single one. Despite not having time to engage with Giantbomb like I used to I always feel like I'm current by enjoying every single podcast you guys put it. It's actually weird knowing I barely have time to actually click on the site more than once a week but between 4 podcasts I listen to the Giantbomb crew between 6-7 hours a week.
