Exactly... it wasn't a slam at all. The GR preview was just recognizing all the single player notes BF3 cribbed from Modern Warfare. I don't think it's a bad thing at all, and from what I gathered, neither did the previewer. It just sounded like it felt familiar. He was extremely positive regarding the normal M-COM multiplayer play. Since it changed the least from the previous iterations, he spent the least amount of time on it. It was great, and still is great... which is good to hear.

Ugh... there has to be a better way for all the developers and retailers to squeeze every last dollar out of the gaming public...

Also, I'm thinking more along the lines of small improvements that could go a long way.  And yeah, the ol'boss stabbing you in the back plot twist was probably not the best example.  But here are a few more...

-An old RTS problem... crappy unit acknowledgement.  Hearing an identical "yes sir" 50 times a minute is a recipe to get me not to play your game ever again.  Relic is great about this, btw... great voice and great unit acknowlegement stuff across the board.
-Cut scenes starting after save points.  I already watched the damn thing once.  Let me get back to the part where my head was just blown apart for the seventh time.

@Fragstoff:
Like I said, I'm not into RPG's in general, but Eternal Sonata springs to mind immediately.  Last one I played.

OK, this has been bothering for me a while, need to get it all out.  When playing games, there a few things that really get under my skin.  Some are everywhere, some pop up once in a while, all I feel are easy fixes.  So here's a few bullet points, with explanation...

-The same old reload animations.  To me, nothing feels more stale than seeing the same'ol reload animation in an FPS.  Especially since the average player will reload hundreds if not thousands of times in a typical FPS experience.  Seems simple to me... add a finger twitch, hold the gun or mag at a different angle when reloading, maybe even fumble around a little bit.  Add a little variety!

-RPGs that STILL don't alter player character equipment to reflect loadout.  Come on... it's 2010!  I don't play many RPGs, but it blows me away that characters in some games look the same from beginning to end, no matter how much combat they've seen, and what sort of arms and armor they purport to carry.  If I buy a set of armor made with dragon scales or some shit, I want to SEE it!

-Main villains that turn out to be, wait for it... your boss and/or superior!  Come on, this shit didn't work in 48 Hours 2.  If I only knew what I've seen in video games, I'd think the CIA, military, PMCs and various assorted kings and royalty spent 75% of their time conspiring to kill their own best and brightest.

I'm sure there are plenty of other small things in games that bug people... whatcha got?

Yeah, I know about Extraction, and don't have a Wii... so I don't really care.  My point was that part of the game's fun was that it's built itself a believable world for the player to interact with.  So much so that I'm bizarrely interested in seeing that world in a totally non horror based application.

So... this is kind of out there, but playing through the game made me want to see the Ishimura BEFORE the necromorphs.  I'd actually want to play a space mining game.  You know... popping a planet's cork, collecting minerals.  Am I crazy?

Fantastic game.  I will say this... if you Gamefly, try it that way first.  I loved every second of Dead Space, but there ain't that many seconds to it, if you know what I mean.  It's no Wanted: Weapons of Fate, but I blazed through it in 2 days.  Granted, it's beccause it was great, and I wanted to see the plot through.  I'll also second to playing it multiple times.  I actually played it start-to-finish 4 times... the first time as a newb.  The second will all the weapons powered up to crush my enemies and see them driven before me, and hear the lamentations of their women.  The third and fourth times were for achievements.  Hope that helps.

OK, I'm about to make this easy for you.  If it's an open bar, go.  Because free liquor is always fantastic.  If it's not an open bar... go anyway.  It's your fuckin' brother, dude.
