How Wii Sports Benefits My Life: A Possibly Typed Informerical...

Already sounds ridiculous, yes? Just bare with me people.
I got the Wii sometime in early March, and my starting games were of course the given Wii Sports and Super Mario Galaxy. A very quick sidenote: I barely played Galaxy due to being very busy, but I will beat it this summer. Now Wii Sports was something that I initially thought would be a quick little thrill, but it turned out to be something much more. It has become one of the games I've been "addicted" to over the past year. This list comprises of COD4, Super Puzzle Fighter HD, Puzzle Quest, Team Fortress 2, among a few others, with the topic of discussion being the latest. Astonishingly enough, Wii Sports is an addiction that benefits me in a lot of ways.

What Wii Sports does for me is similar to what Guitar Hero somewhat does for myself and others in the sense of the cliche, "unleashing your inner rockstar." The game helps me tap into that inner athlete...or the athlete I'd like to be. I am indeed a sports fan and I mainly play football (the American and war-like type :P) and basketball casually. But other sports I have tried in real life such as tennis, baseball and golf...eh...let's say I cannot even pretend to be decent at them, lol.
But in Wii Sports, I totally own with some of these activities. For instance, the tennis minigame. Just the other day, I recieved a message at the Wii Menu stating I beat Elisa, the game's tennis champion. A meaningless accomplishment, yeah I guess, but for the moment I felt like Federer. Pro tennis score: 1503. A couple of the other activities like bowling, I totally suck at, but that's okay, I don't like bowling anyway. I'm starting to play the golf minigame more and more. And you know what, I'm beginning to like golf a lot. Might start watching some of the tours (or whatever the term is) in full now, due to the fact that Wii Sports provides me an understanding of the game's rules and attributes. "The best thing is to stay below par, not above," I tell myself. Today, I scored a "chip in" and eagle and started jumping for joy.

To get to the point, Wii Sports does exactly what many games aim to give to the gamer: a fun and fulfilling escape from reality. It kinda boosts my self-esteem y'know.
...I hope you guys do not take this as seriously as I am, hehe. Honestly, I just really like kicking ass in the minigames, something I can't do with their real-life counterparts. If Nintendo would have taken online capabilities more seriously and added online multiplayer then I'd be putting tons of more hours into the game. It get boring smacking my parents and sister around in tennis after a while :P.
Hope you found this post of bullshit interesting :P.
Peace.
