Platform: Windows/PC

Year: mid-1990s

Genre: Educational/(maybe point and click Adventure as well?)

Graphics: detailed but cartoony-2D

Gameplay: You are a green bug wearing glasses (I think a firefly?), and you go different places and click on things.

Intended audience: kids

NOT: any of the Buzzy the Knowledge Bug games

More details: You start in an attic, which is filled with lots of souvenirs and travel memorabilia. You click on these items in order to go on safari, visiting different places around the world. These places include but are not limited to a beach (where you can go scuba diving and look through a periscope), a desert (with a pyramid), and a jungle (with lots of wild animals, including a toucan and a piranha). One feature is that you can click different items and the game will spell them for you. (This was how I learned how to spell "limousine", "periscope", and "piranha".)

u/garrenn on r/tipofmyjoystick is almost definitely talking about the same game, even though some of the details they recall are different.
