Visually, Nissan 370z (although it is looking a bit dated in an Audi TT kinda way these days) or the 2020 GT-R Nismo.

The baroque/metal infused jams of SOTN get their galvanized hooks into me endlessly.

Nioh 2 now running at 1440/60, so put a dozen hours in or so. Loved the first one, and this game adds a lot to the charm/fun factor, with more opportunities to interact with its world a little. I think the voiceless protagonist thing is a bit flat in contrast with everything else, but that allows more character customization, so it balances out. Enjoying the gameplay additions with yokai abilities and whatnot.

Yeah, good sequel so far, and the mission-based structure vs. a traditional soulslike with an emphasis on loot is still a clever way to encourage replayability, even if the level design can feel old fashioned and static at times.

Started Death Stranding. I'm surprised how much I'm enjoying it so far. I suspected I'd get into the UPS simulator easily, which is true, and the landscape is certainly quite a beauty. Flashes of ICO and SoTC's quiet, chill moments hit me now and then, and the story is being less intrusive than I feared.

Main complaints are Sam's sister being a fucking weirdo in every cutscene. Most bizarre, cringey acting I've seen in some time. I have no idea if she wants to kiss me, quote a French philosopher or cry half the time, that's how alien it is.

Sam's lack of, "What the hell are any of you talking about?" bugs me, too, because so many characters mention how little they know about what's going on with this technology they've sort of been forced to use, but Sam seems to just be like..."Sure, I am immortal and this baby is a ghost detector I guess."

Enjoying it for now.

I think KH1 and Dream Drop are really good games. The first game is just a successful crossover about kids escaping their little island and visiting bizarrely different worlds, reconnecting them, and understanding their friendship more. Simple, charming thing.

Dream Drop is like falling through candy-coated dreams, and I enjoyed the World Ends With You/Disney double-crossover. It's pretty fun.

The others...have decent gameplay and striking visuals/music, but the most ludicrous, bloated, unnecessary, Star Wars-esque sagas of nonsense weaved around them. And it isn't complicated, it's dumb, and needless, and poorly paced.

I'm excited about KH1 and Dream. Thought for ages about speedrunning them, was researching elgatos and shit, but I can just OBS it via PC now! Never played Re:Chain, but it piques my interest.

Drew leaving destroyed me; Dan leaving destroyed me; Abby and Ben now, too, and the destruction continues.

Wish Ben the best. He has great chemistry with literally everyone and brings so many games I'd never entertain into the spotlight and into my wheelhouse. That's all a great host ever needs to do, and he always achieves it.

Good luck! Remember, the ska's the limit!

  • Good performances.
  • Characters with actual motivations that drive them -- Wrex's genophage cure hopes, Tali striving for Quarian peace, Garrus' space super-cop ambitions, etc.
  • Fewer but multi-layered side quests that can unfold x number of ways, and don't amount to just hopping between NPCs to trigger the next waypoint. Let me fund a science facility that contacts me, claiming it can revive a dead crewmate, based on Lazarus project tech, only to find out that they return seemingly normal but the ship's doctor soon observes they are slowly deteriorating. It could become a game-long side quest to stabilize the neural and physical decay of this crewmate, who is becoming unreliable as the game progresses, having sleepwalking nightmares, not being able to control their biotics safely. They could start to resent being brought back, that could unfold several ways. It's not sci-fi genius, but it creates something else to care about that has a less predictable trajectory. Choosing to bring them on certain missions could be extremely risky despite having important relevance to it. That could be an interesting choice. Gimme something that makes me really think about potential or permanent repercussions.
  • Just let me romance who I want, please. I want to romance Tali as femshep, so just let me. Real life is not an 'everyone is bi' free-for-all, but this is RPG fiction, let me carve my version of the story please.
  • More biotic combos. Just let me incinerate a singularity to burn everyone trapped in it. Let two singularities meld to create a super one that pulls debris and shit off tha walls. Let me 'throw' a teammates poorly placed grenade into a cluster of baddies. Let me detonate a teammate's combat drone. Let me put a barrier on anyone I want and have them charge into the fray.
  • Bigger fish tank. This is the dealbreaker.

@efesell: I wish I hadn't commented about it in the first place now. This thread's shown me everything I needed to know. Hopefully it was clear my input here was out of curiosity and a little empathy, not some weird, faux wisdom. Eep.
