As silly and fun as this is, I'm sure some of this would be go down easier if they had TeamViewer or something installed on the production machines so Vinny could just remotely log in from NYC and set up the machines himself haha

@Mike: I mean, in a perfect world I would be plenty happy if they just went the pseudo-endurance run route and just went all in and streamed everything (which would probably require an accelerated schedule like the end of MGS4). The Persona 4 ER had plenty of stale episodes where they just did upkeep and busy work, and while we might certainly get some of that here I would still gladly watch and value Drew having the full experience.

I honestly have no idea if that is realistic or even feasible on their end, and I'm sure they already have an idea of what they are doing and don't really need our ideas to figure it out. Dan and Jason have both seen the bulk of the game so I'm sure they've already decided how to approach the end of this video series. I would just personally prefer if they streamed everything. The moment-to-moment gameplay in MGSV can create some really magical moments even when you are doing something totally arbitrary.

@somejerk: Yeah, that's a good point. I mean - I don't think it's necessary for them to do a stream of every single Prisoner Extraction side mission, or every Eliminate Tank Unit, stuff like that. Although, Drew may end up wanting to do some of those on the weekends or something just for the extra resources or staff members.

That could be a dangerous line to walk though, with how many cutscenes get triggered simply by returning to mother base after certain conditions are met (conditions Drew is unlikely to be aware of).

I've, uh, got a friend, ok? Let's say he's a 40-something video game player that's been ignoring this series all these years. He doesn't know about snakes and bosses, liquids or solids, heavens or clones. But the MGS5 gameplay seems good, and the UPF and Quicklooks have been interesting, and he wants to play it.

Does the game give you all the backstory you need if you are coming to the franchise totally blind? ...Or does this friend of mine need to pursue some kind of MGS lore video on YouTube to get oriented? Can a person spend 1 hour of time learning enough to enjoy this game and know what the hell is going on?

My friend thanks you for the advice.

I see you are a premium member, have you just not had the interest or time to watch Metal Gear Scanlon?

@devil240z: The additional connection is the deleted mission 51 ends with a pan over NYC that includes a clear view of the WTC.

That still isn't really a connection to the actual event. Just cause something takes place during a time when an iconic building still stood.

Yeah I thought the main take away of that final photograph was mostly the Statue of Liberty as a way of geographically specifying that Liquid and Mantis were heading to the USA to seed the events of Shadow Moses. I'm not sure I buy any special significance to the towers being present other than the fact that it was 1984 and of course the towers would have still been standing.

Have you tried (fourth buddy spoilers) D-Walker with the Fulton Ballista? I find it much more useful for clearing tanks or armored vehicles: just set yourself up 150m away, take aim, and plink! The sky opens and you've got another shiny toy in your arsenal.

I knew about it but never actually took it into the field. The limited ammo count made me hesitant to use it, considering I usually knocked out all available Side-Ops before leaving an area.

Got the fulton kit for DD and after using it, I agree it can be convenient but takedown seems better because DD fulton doesn't really add anything to your arsenal. Takedown on the otherhand is very useful to eliminate enemies that would be risky to CQC or shoot.

I think the fulton gear adds two things: it keeps you from having to call in potentially expensive resupplies just to get more fultons if you are out on long Side-Ops completion runs (D-Dogs fultons are unlimited), and he can fulton people that are surrounded by other active enemies without consequence (as long as you have the wormhole upgrade). The usefulness of this is demonstrated in the first two video clips I posted.
