Rediscovering the God of War series

I'm not exactly new to the series

My earliest memories of the God of War series was watching my older brother fight the Hydra in the very first game and being amazed at how violent it was. I was no stranger to video game violence, having shot my fair share of virtual baddies in FPS games and emancipated plenty of limbs from other people in Mortal Kombat, but something about how visceral the animations appeared when Kratos slung his Blades of Chaos across the neck of the Hyrda. The camera angles also did a good job of tracking the action to ensure that anyone watching would see the chaos unfold in great detail. Despite my positive first impression, I never had any interest in playing those games. (I still wonder why my attention was never grabbed back then since my tastes in games has not really changed from the 2000's to now) I did watch walkthroughs of the entire trilogy but by 2018 by memory of those games was completely hazy...enter God of War(2018!). I was curious enough about the setting and the new gameplay style to pick it up and I had a blast with that game. I loved the story, loved the narrative, and loved the themes of parenthood and owning up to the baggage of one's past. This game will get a bit of my dumb commmentary at one point but my attention came soaring back to the game that started it all.
