I can understand why people are annoyed at the ahistorical treatment of the setting in Battlefield 1, but it's hardly surprising that EA/DICE have chosen to use the setting as merely a theme for the game. Trying to make a faithful World War I game with the kind of gameplay that Battlefield's online Conquest mode is known for would be very difficult and probably too risky for EA. Was anybody really expecting to see a Battelfield-scale version of Verdun?
As someone who's been playing these games since Battlefield 1942, I'm just happy to see that Battlefield 1 looks like a Battlefield-ass Battlefield game, especially after Hardline.
@jeff Have you guys ever considered getting Victor Lucas in for a feature? The guy has been around forever, and some of my favourite content is hearing you guys talk about the business.
I hope Ubisoft releases an actual new game this console generation.
I had the same hopes until Watch Dogs came out during the last generation. My skepticism for new Ubisoft properties has gone for moderate to extreme in as many years.
@spitznock: You're not wrong. I think that anime fandom is seen as nerdy by many in the gaming community. It's a niche thing, and with that status comes the misunderstanding that leads to derision.
