  • For reasons I never understood this was the first system that my father bought. He was never interested in computers his whole life, but still got us this system. I was immediately addicted to Mouse Trap and Zaxxon.

  • I never owned an Atari, but I got to play it quite a bit at a friend's house. Missile Command, Space Invaders and some (very confusing and not long lasting) E.T. gameplay. The graphics never bothered me. Strange, since I'm now very picky about aliasing in games ...

  • The first computer that was really mine. After the MSX I got the MSX-2. The best thing were some Konami games cartridges which came with a built-in sound processor (King's Valley 2 comes to mind). I could just listen hours and hours to the music in those games!

  • The arcade used to be cutting edge in those days. You knew you could never get those amazing 3D graphics or feedback at home. They look like dinosaurs now. But I still have fond memories of the wild twists and turns of After Burner and the rattling of the plastic machine guns used in some Rambo or Aliens game.

  • My last stand against the upcoming PC platform. The amazing video and sound chip had me convinced that PC gaming was never going to be as good. History proved me wrong ... but I still long for those Guru Meditation and demo disk days!

  • The Wii convinced me of two things: (1) it's pretty fun swinging your controller around in front of the TV and (2) but not for long. It's gathering dust now.
