The reality of the situation is that Mordhau chat is mostly filled up with people complaining that horses are overpowered or that spears/shields are bullshit. It's really dumb and occasionally vulgar but pretty much par for the course.
I've been playing competitive games for 2.5 decades and the Mordhau community is no more/less racist/toxic than any other community I have been apart of. People who don't play the game have constructed this narrative based on the current political climate so they have something to argue about.
Yes, there is a unfiltered textbox and people sometimes type immature messages into it. I don't know what to tell you. There is an option to completely turn it off or you can be like me and ignore it.
Most people play just to whack each other with swords and shit.
I’m pretty uninformed with regards to esports as in I don’t give a shit, but I would be interested to know how hard a company like EA pushes sportsmanship vs. rivalry/drama with regards to their Madden events.
I just remember their horrid E3 press conference about chasing money and glorifying bad behavior like not shaking hands. Again, I’m pretty ignorant on this front. But I wish there was less emphasis on dollars and more on respect/honor. Even mixed martial artists will hug after knocking each other out.
