Stellaris: God, where do I begin. I never finished my first two runs with this game back when it came out. Got the Synth Dawn, Utopia and Distant Stars DLCs on the last Steam sale, heard that the game had changed a lot so I figured now was the time. And it was. It’s far more accessible than it was three years ago.
I founded the Naale Accord, a reptilian Xenofile Egalitarian Materialistic democracy. Started out next to a Hive Mind to the east that happened to like me, Xenofobe warmonger bugs to the south with a space amoeba system between us that easied our friction, and Authoritarian Materialistic lizards up north that agreed to let me live.
Kept growing in my patch of space, the Hive Mind asked to be my vassal and I agreed, made a federation with some fellow xenofiles from far away that decided we should go to war with the space bugs, which actually got me controlling all of their systems and incorporating their species into my empire. Then some of the systems from the Authoritarian lizards had revolting slaves that asked politely to be a part of my empire, and I couldn’t say no. Fifty years later I’m claiming the lizards’ capital system.
Now I’ve got half the map, my single vote weights more than the rest of the federated factions combined, and my army can mess with any dormant empire in the game.
Finally I decided to ask the vassal Hive Mind to join my empire, only to find that they couldn’t function as individuals and they were… Defaulted to be purged? Wait, what?
TL;DR: Wanted to be the good buddy of the universe, ended up messing with every other empire in the game. Last 100 years have felt pretty dull.
