Unironically, I tie the PS4 + Xbox One era (including its pre-launch year) with my experience with Giant Bomb. I joined this site in 2011 and I could say that I fell off of it around the pandemic, so that whole generation is encapsulated with my experience here, specially with GOTY discussions and landmark releases. It kind of was a miserable era for video games, but all the nostalgia I have for it feeds into my GB nostalgia.

I truly wonder what would he be doing these days, with everything that changed not only in this site, but in the world as well. He would probably be making me smile with his content, whatever it may be.

RIP Ryan Davis, you are greatly missed.

I don't know why, but the first memory that came to mind is an UPF where when the show was about to end and the energy kinda drained out, he spurred out of blue "I'm gonna go masturbate".

Golden. Just golden.

I understand that an initiative similar to this can only happen when there's nothing to lose, kind of like when this site was born. I know that's not the case right now (at least for all involved, I don't know how are Jason and Jess holding on), but I also see that this site is falling stale of content. Sekirochoa, Arcade Pit, Borne to Run, Very Online Show are all greatly missed, they came from people who are still in the company but current circumstances do not allow them to happen.

And it really feels like a pity to have the GB extended family (I would add Waypoint to the list as well), all these people we are fans of, that know each other, that strike gold when they work together, all spread appart or on their own. While this site feels empty.

I really like the idea proposed by @auspexao , as improbable to apply as it is, and as much energy (something that I feel has been drained) it would take, because I feel there's a need for a plan. It's way better than the usual way to express frustration with the current situation. I am not smart enough to come up with a solution, but I feel there's a need for one.

That's it. It really, really makes me want to scream "I'm out". Jess was the new blood that was supposed to carry the torch, and Jason's Ranking of Fighters still to this day is one of the best classic content in this site. The corporate machine keeps eating anything good that's on this site and, although I've been loving the current iteration of GB, the things that happen behind the crew makes me consider not supporting this. I really miss Jeff and Vinny, and at the same time I perfectly understand why they're not here anymore.

Gerstmann's departure was ugly, and now this feels like more of the same.

You all deserve better than this.

Just came here to give support to this game 3 years late. Been playing a campaign with my fellow cousins for the last two weeks and it is a great experience. The growth of the characters and regular unlocking of new cards and characters make this game a coop experience worth having.

Me and my partner didn't have any experience with the base game, but after the first night we felt we knew more than the basics on how to play tactics effectively. Very recommendable.

I also miss this feature, but I'm sure they'll come back to it when it's the right time. They're probably dealing with things as they come.
There have been many changes recently to the VG sites I care for, and some of them are hard to deal with, but bashing at them won't help.

All three of them brought me so much joy over the years, i can't even describe how hard the news hit me.

I hope to see them around the internet in the future and, over anything, I wish them happiness.

She became one of my favorite people of the podcast the instant she was introduced. Her presence, her humour and her styyyle is something the podcasts needed. And I'm not even gonna bother to talk about representation, which is something GB has always struggled with.

I just want her to land on her feet and to have her around, she's damn good at what she does!

Stellaris: God, where do I begin. I never finished my first two runs with this game back when it came out. Got the Synth Dawn, Utopia and Distant Stars DLCs on the last Steam sale, heard that the game had changed a lot so I figured now was the time. And it was. It’s far more accessible than it was three years ago.

I founded the Naale Accord, a reptilian Xenofile Egalitarian Materialistic democracy. Started out next to a Hive Mind to the east that happened to like me, Xenofobe warmonger bugs to the south with a space amoeba system between us that easied our friction, and Authoritarian Materialistic lizards up north that agreed to let me live.

Kept growing in my patch of space, the Hive Mind asked to be my vassal and I agreed, made a federation with some fellow xenofiles from far away that decided we should go to war with the space bugs, which actually got me controlling all of their systems and incorporating their species into my empire. Then some of the systems from the Authoritarian lizards had revolting slaves that asked politely to be a part of my empire, and I couldn’t say no. Fifty years later I’m claiming the lizards’ capital system.

Now I’ve got half the map, my single vote weights more than the rest of the federated factions combined, and my army can mess with any dormant empire in the game.

Finally I decided to ask the vassal Hive Mind to join my empire, only to find that they couldn’t function as individuals and they were… Defaulted to be purged? Wait, what?

TL;DR: Wanted to be the good buddy of the universe, ended up messing with every other empire in the game. Last 100 years have felt pretty dull.
